This may be the groundwork for the second edition of the CSIRO approved diet for Australians

Interesting to note loud advertising of government funding of projects to reduce agricultural methane. Pointless in the face of decisions like this. So which is it ? Is there too much ( agricultural) methane or never enough ( fossil methane) for exports.

Perhaps they are going to pressure farmers to reduce emissions to offset the free gift to Woodside? The Agriculture minister, with the back of a napkin over coffee, might conclude that if all agriculture is eliminated, Australia may be able to offset a small portion of these emissions.

time for everyone to write to their mp and government . Daily.

Just to be clear- it’s not necessary to “ isolate” the active component. Bromoform is available to buy as industrial chemical fairly cheaply. Ask a chemist or chemical engineer. Doesn’t mean it should be fed to cattle.

Australia busily expanding and extending gas exports for the next 50 years ( one example here), so diverting attention is handy. amp.abc.net.au/article/1046...

It seems an unnecessary expense on farmers ( we could pay more and reduce food waste- much more effective) It certainly diverts attention from methane ( LNG) exports increasing ( and leaking both at source and during transport) and of course, from fracking. www.scientificamerican.com/article/meth...

Greenhouse gas emissions in total from cattle include Nox ( much greater impact) and fossil fuel inputs into feed/ farm /etc. It’s beyond simply methane. Thus more effective to address food waste/ herd reduction etc. Aside from those logistics Haloform oxidation products also very toxic.

Not all seaweed is the same. Good agribusiness seaweed pasture treatments usually from brown seaweeds. This red one contains a a high concentration of Bromoform - which is the active component. Tox outline here www.epa.gov/sites/defaul...

Yes it’s a tox profile that doesn’t really belong in this space. If oxidised - heat, uv- carbonyl dibromide is formed.

Bromoform is the active component of the seaweed and actually not that great -although it sounds “ natural” . Bromoform has a tox profile-a strange thing to put in the food chain. Reducing food waste, appreciating farmers and placing real value on our food- much more effective and not toxic
