This is pretty much me right now. I've now met all three of the deadlines that were giving me long days & sleepless nights over the last three months - only to turn around and find all the Other Things that have piled up since. People, I am spent. I'll be back in the office & back online on Monday.

This is a very good piece. As someone much older than Taylor, I especially appreciate his thoughts on the importance of having collegial conversations between the generations of queer fantasy writers/readers/scholars...and I'm reminded that the same applies to the generations of feminists too.

Huge and happy congrats to this brilliant ensemble of finalists! @yarntheory.bsky.social @edenrobins.bsky.social @nghivo.bsky.social @andreahairston.bsky.social @margaret.bsky.social @vajra.me @vandroidhelsing.bsky.social @nalohop.bsky.social

Beautiful article. The writer’s name is Laureli Ivanoff. Look up all her incredible work.

Things are terrible, it’s true. But your gifts have never been more necessary. Do the thing. Bring the love.

Lottie on the sofa in my studio cabin, "helping" me to work today.

A good piece on an important and under-discussed topic.

I hadn't realised London Dreamtime was here on Bluesky. How nice to find them again!

My husband's puppets on a chair in our living room, resting between performances. #tinyjoys

Poets Pádraig Ó Tuama and Jane Mead in praise of dogs. Of whom, of course, there can never be too much praise. substack.com/home/post/p-...

I admit that I cannot read horror fiction. It is entirely my own fault; I had too much violent trauma in my youth to willingly spend more time in such dark places. But I do respect the horror genre, and this article by Laura Elliott does a good job of articulating why. crimereads.com/the-horror-o...

I love foxglove season on our hillside. #tinyjoys

Solidarity with my American family members, friends, and publishing colleagues protesting today. Thank you for speaking up. Stay safe.

I've just discovered the #tinyjoys hashtag: quiet moments of beauty and joy that lift the heart during troubled times. Here's one tiny joy of mine: self-seeded columbine flowers, which move around our garden as they will. It's always a delight to see where they'll pop up each spring.

A beautifully distracting thread.

The Serebriakova painting below is truly beautiful. It reminds me of the swimming paintings of the American-born/UK-based painter & printmaker Jacqueline Morreau (1929-2016) -- who also created art on mythic subjects viewed through a feminist lens. I hope history doesn't forget this fine artist.

The resident dog, extremely chilled this morning.

More dogs. Thank heavens for dogs.

Given the state of America right now (where I no longer live but which I still love), I needed this photo this morning to remind me that the world is still good. Dogs especially are good. I'm passing these delightful canine smiles on to anyone else who needs them today too.

Thought I'd have another go, @brianmosespoet.bsky.social! #poetryprompt #animals

I've had three colliding deadlines over the last month (plus time-consuming family health issues), which means long hours working in the studio...but Lottie wants a walk and she wants it now. How on earth can anyone resist the brown eyes of a spaniel?

Kinship, that's a wonderful word.

Please join me in supporting this vital organisation. At a time when it's getting harder and harder for any but the most privileged to access arts education and careers, you can help to change a young artist's life. Please donate if you possibly can.

Here's a mythic event that I'm involved with later this month, along with my husband, dramatist Howard Gayton, at Green Hill Arts in Moretonhampstead. If you're anywhere near Dartmoor, please come join us for an evening of myth and magic. www.greenhillarts.co.uk/calendar/cro...

Nice to see @terriwindling.bsky.social get a mention - her myth and moor posts helped inform my folklore obsession while at uni ❤️ Do you have any favourite retold #fairytales? 💙📚🪐 #AskingBooksky

A superb thread from Maria:

From the new book 'Wild Folk', a collaboration of the words of author Jackie Morris and the art of Tamsin Abbott, which comprises of seven richly illustrated fables of transformation and power #WomensArt
