Thanks. Your suggestions for other cloud providers are working out better; thanks again for the info!

And, a week+ later, I finally hear back from netcups. Seems their identity verification provider rejected my US Passport as valid “proof of existence and identity.”

Hmm, I wonder if I can adopt this for Python.

Any boutique cloud company I'm missing? Azure, Oracle Cloud, most of AWS and Google aren't worth the effort for my little piddly vanilla servers. So I like boutique providers.

I'm ok with a manual first-time verification process; hover.com has that. But tell me that's the case. Not much chance of language barrier here; ich spreche ein bißchen Deutsch.

I'm not really liking it right now either!🫠

Right now, I'm using a mix of Vultr, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Linode, and UpCloud VPS instances (all Ubuntu). And DNS from AWS Route 53 and Google Cloud. Tried Kamatera, they stunk. Didn't even offer IPv6 among other stupid issues.

Fair enough; however, to even start the process with netcup, I needed to give them my passport id. I'm guessing an EU thing (I'm in the States)?

So far, netcup's not earning good Marks from me (antique pun intended). Hetzner's a ton easier to work with.

Yes, I was able to do that fairly easily. A bigger challenge was finding the right spot in a sea of settings to delete threads.

Maybe put in a TOS prohibiting use in AI, and adding a public suit mechanism similar to the one in the Clean Water Act.

It seems to be able to grab a deal, you need to have an account with them first, or can open one before a deal expires, to get that deal successfully.

Agreed. How many account closures is Threads seeing a day? I killed all mine to get off that garbage pile.

I like command line mostly, but I grew up with it. Just missed the punchcard era, thank goodness!
I did freak my kids out when they saw an open Linux terminal and me plopping in commands. Sorta like when I set up a rotary phone in the kitchen.

How about submitting kernel patches for a currently unsupported Rockchip 3568 board each day? I have one in mind that I need help with.
