I just want to say that @jkass99.bsky.social was an incredible educator and positive influence on my 9th grade students studying genocide with his interview today. He emphasized the importance of standing by your friends and neighbors in order to defeat genocide and to stop it being perpetrated.

The Bush administration disappeared people too, sent them to a different gulag at Gitmo and other black sites, kidnapped people off the street of Milan, tortured them, in the name of "a different kind of war." We didn't come close to holding them accountable. We're seeing the cost of that now.

i am just hearing Leonard Zeskind died. as someone who has made a career studying and reporting on the far right, he was the very very very best of us. Blood And Politics will be remembered by history as one of the single most important books ever written about the United States.
