I'm a quarter through King Gainer and tbh it might be the exception to the rule if it keeps up its current quality

I don't know what I expected clicking the video, but it wasn't πŸ”₯ Maggot BrainπŸ”₯

Unlike most mecha anime, Seinfeld is about nothing

WOW, it's that bad???

At first it seems pretty minor, but different combinations give "secret" skills

But it feels like Abyss and Vesperia deliberately make the start of the game feel worse to make the payoff of grinding for AD Skills feel rewarding

Had a lot of thoughts while listening, but something I found interesting re: Vesperia is that Symphonia doesn't have AD skills, so the characters are more versatile from the start. Progression is gained more from finding and experimenting with Exspheres than grinding. I'll comment on YT after work

Yeah sure why not

Oh, for sure. I'm not defending it, it's more a fascination than anything else.

Yeah, little payoff for the devs. Like it's a cool novelty, but the cynical goal-oriented gamer in me can only ask "is there anything worthwhile in this mode?". At the same time, my inner child (and presumably the real life children this is marketed to) doesn't care that it's superfluous

I spent the better part of an afternoon as a kid trying to find a way to land on the deck of this ship in MK64, and clearly someone on the team wanted to reward that kind of curiosity and tenacity.

Weirdly enough, I'm happy it exists; it scratches a childhood itch I've always had to go off course and see more of the track/level assets. But yeah, it seems like a lot of effort for very little payoff

Kojima touching on the communal nature of art, connecting, sharing, and taking the spark forward. He gets it. Something I hope Death Stranding 2 leans into.

Completely not the point of this post, but I'll never forgive the DX hack for not including a Pink Hair option

Got my friend to watch Gainer (he's never seen a Tomino anime before) and used this image to prepare him

I'm just happy we're getting more Bloodstained, but I would've liked ONE Miriam adjacent character

Raveness is 1000x cooler than Kris lol

My recommendation is to play each version up to Nybeth (third map) and then make the call. OG is a simpler game with higher stakes, PSP is for character build sickos and Reborn tries to split the difference (FE3 vs FE16 vs FE12, maybe?)

I'm having a blast with One Vision, but having just unlocked Phorampa Wildwoods, I'm feeling the grind a little bit (want to bring Beast Tamers and Ninjas up to speed with my other classes). Reborn is probably the best first playthrough, but there's something weirdly cozy about the OG for me

Tbf, I feel like Christian would vibe with the Saturn Version considering he's currently playing FE3 lol. Only real hurdle is the level scaling

I want to explain to these people that they're doing the modern equivalent of ranking Nintendo Power issues based on if they covered, I dunno, Super Mario 64-2 or w/e. Just an absolute waste of energy
