That’s the hardest part for me—telling them their writing sounds inhuman. So now I insist students use and cite only the sources I’ve curated for them in the online shell. Students could conceivably upload every page to ChatGPT (laborious work) but I will warn them not to steal my IP.

The “SS” stands for Schutzstaffel, a particularly nasty paramilitary arm of the Nazi regime in Germany that carried out some of the worst atrocities of the war.
