they can do quite a bit with this young man. they simply cannot miss this opportunity. something in me tells me they won’t.

bobby will age well. like brett who secured 3 batting titles in 3 different decades and adapted his approach based on the situation (ex: in 1985, brett hit a career-high 30 hrs and drew a career-high 103 walks despite previously not drawing more than 71), witt has this same aptitude.

it’s crazy to say it, but the royals are officially in win-now mode for the next decade. despite an ugly rebuild, terrible free agent signings from 16-22, losing 100+ three times and hideous player development, they’ve come out the other side in contention for as long as they decide to pursue it.

after those 6 years (ending in 2031), bobby has a $35 mil option every year until he’s 37. if there isn’t a restructuring by that point and he remains year-to-year, i’d bet $$ that the org colossally squandered his prime.

this is a little voodoo and mythical, but i truly believe bwj cares little about money. he’s a ballplayer’s ballplayer. he wants to play the game every day and he wants to win — every day. kc has 6 years (including this year) to put a pennant in the rafters.

he is signed to a club-friendly deal that will not adequately reflect his value until his contract reaches its highest aav in 2029 at $36.111 million. even then, that contract may fall short. that does, however, leave the royals the necessary room to build around him.

hate them all you want. i kinda hate them, too. take away the stats and awards from the years they were proven (or admitted) to be cheating if you want (you shouldn’t), but even if you did - they are still hall of famers.

and an insane amount of open-faced, unambiguous racism. and i’m not too sure any of that will matter to voters if the economy is strong. we are so fucking twisted and broken in this country.
comment in response to post
how do you sit next to and talk with lying cucks who so openly praise this miscarriage of justice every day? truly - i admire you. i hate these contemptuous twats in ways unquantifiable.

this is a tremendous way to keep losing. libcringe, facebook mom liberal memes really do nothing good for us. hope that helps

the tides are turning. if dems aren’t up for the task and can’t secure wins in 26 and 28 then young people must demand a new party. there will be time enough to court a coalition that can win if they do so. if dems don’t modernize, that party is over in 10 years. book that.

because now maga is entering there “it’s not my job to educate you” period. don’t know why vaccines are bad? why global warming is a myth? wake up, liberal. voters will be sick of that very fast. but how much they’re willing to fight back is up to democrats. and that’s really scary right now.

no one who elects to insult and demonize young, white men or women is a part of this coalition. they’re playing the same game we say we are against and voters see that. you can’t talk down to people and be a hypocrite. maga is getting pretty high and mighty and voters will punish them.

and you have GOT to stop vilifying men and white people. full stop. it hasn’t brought anyone over to your side and is actively pushing moderate minorities away. that in 2025 the median voter considers dems more radical than right wingers is outrageously incorrect. but that’s our fault.

those pithy, resist lib, facebook-style jabs are cute for your gen x and boomer parents who already inhale msnbc. they do not one single bit of good for anyone else. you’ve got to find a way to defend the right thing without being a sanctimonious asshole.

3. messaging. “they’re for wall street and we’re for main street.” i saw a high-visibility dem tweet that recently. guys. you cannot recycle this messaging. you’re losing minority voting blocs, you’re losing young people, and you’re losing elections. you’ve got to be smarter than this.

2. gop didn’t need gotv. straight up did not matter in 2024. because it’s 2024. your digital outreach is better than all the phone banking turned in to missed calls and letter writing going in to the trash. the game will be won with content. like it or not, that’s the real ground game.

no one answers a call from an unknown number if you’re under the age of 40. too many scammers, too many horror stories, too much spam. why the hell would a major party invest money in to adding to the noise? beats me.
comment in response to post
we all get texts, calls, emails and adverts daily whether or not we live in a “winnable” state. what blew my mind as phone banking. i cannot imagine a less effective method for voter outreach in the modern day. 80% of your calls will go to voicemail or hang up.

1. they are correctly identifying swing state voters as the necessary components to win. however, they are incorrectly approaching them. if you don’t live in one of these seven states, try and imagine for a moment how annoying the outreach programs could be relative to what they already are.

the zone is getting flooded by djt and his cronies. but, thankfully, they will have to answer for their insane agenda. answer they will. i promise you that the electorate is going to punish this movement badly very soon.

so many of those folks still firmly believe in the lies that were told. they do not accept accountability for what they’ve done and the people they put in harm’s way. w/o full admission and acceptance of responsibility, they should rot.

this really is not a “liberal” problem at all. it’s right-wingers and those pesky “centrists” who give him cover. you’d be hard-pressed to find a significant contingency of reliable democratic voters who myopically look past vaccine denialism in this current era.

what’s truly going to piss me off is when (inevitably) some dumbass, sports-betting frat hack goes viral saying “i wish i knew more. i regret my vote.” i promise you you’ll see that at some point and i promise you we will not accept.
comment in response to post
and because the maga constituency does not hold itself accountable to its own rules (let alone that of the country), there’s little opportunity to make bipartisan inroads. it’s honestly just as bad as we said it would be during the campaign. idk, man.

i was so locked in this year. reading indictments, following coverage and house activity, researching for my vote, phone banking and letter writing but it sure feels like we’ve been hollering in to the void.

show me positives for hgh, greenies and trash cans with dents in them against the unquantifiable “clean” list or the “cheated a lil” list and we’ll talk. otherwise put them in the fucking hall.

a few things that seem insurmountable. - ag garland and the doj pursued frivolous cases and weaponized the institution. (they waited two years?? he committed crimes??) - denying the results of 2020 election - these ludicrous claims of socialism and/or communism quick defeaters? pls?
