This is the consequence of abandoning any sense of propriety. Not by this witch, I mean the media. This should be roundly condemned by EVERY decent American, and reported on as the utterly scandalous abandonment of basic standards of fairness and professionalism that it is.

Re-reading Justice Robert H. Jackson's famous speech on the dangerous discretion of federal prosecutors in light of the dubious indictment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. This section stood out. www.roberthjackson.org/speech-and-w...

I seem to be of the minority opinion that it's bad for our historical understanding when people use "blood libel" to mean "well-documented exposé reporting on actions committed by the Israeli military."

The Supreme Court's Republicans have just used the shadow docket to ensure that DOGE has immediate access to non-anonymized Social Security data before its legal authority to do so has been established www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

It’ll be interesting how the Trump administration’s remarkable ability to magically bring Abrego García back to the United States will bear on its arguments in other cases about how it really has no ability to influence the detention of others at CECOT.

If you strip away the egos and shitposting, the Trump-Musk feud is really an argument over how comprehensively to screw over poor and working people—over how best to make our society a meaner, crueler, less equal, more savage place. New piece from me: newrepublic.com/article/1962...

Once again: Don't print lies in the newspaper Don't host liars on the tv shows Don't ask "does the sun rise in the East?" when you can look outside & observe the direction of the sunrise

Literal trillion dollar bills on the sidewalk we are refusing to pick up

these people keep forgetting that part of the reason LEOs are typically uniformed is because if you see some masked goon in street clothes ziptying your neighbor and shoving them in a van, you are within your rights to intervene

The fact that this is not technically a violation of campaign finance law is a gross indictment of how weak and pathetic our campaign finance laws are.

A thing I find baffling is that anyone now old enough to have kids grew up in a time when it was considered uttterly normal and safe for kids to walk around the neighbornood alone, and yet we seem to have collectively determined the thing we all did as kids is now borderline child abuse.

I think this is the explanation: People think it was fine when we were growing up, but not now, because we live in a more dangerous world. Except by pretty much any empirical measure, the opposite is true. Crime rates in most places, for instance, were way higher in the 70s/80s/90s than now.

We used to be a serious country that opposed fascism

In 1936, FDR closed out his re-election campaign by bragging to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that “organized money” hated him “and I welcome their hatred.” He took 60% of the vote in a 523-8 electoral college landslide. FDR knew having the right enemies could be a useful thing.

It is true that Elon has opened the door for democrats. They should tell the American people that Elon is angry because of what this bill takes away from *him* while democrats are mad because of what republicans are trying to take away from *them*. Leave the deficit out of it.

So currencies. Much medium of exchange. Very store of value.

Just remembered this classic.

Musk Deported To Sweden Claims He’s Not From There

The important thing as this Trump v. Musk feud escalates is that I want them and their teams and all of their supporters to suffer as much pain and humiliation and degradation as is possible, and I feel as if a few strokes and fistfights and the odd stabbing would be proportional as well
