Also think from the playing perspective, Cody is at the club and clearly a Slot favourite, and watching Wirtz last night constantly drifting into a wide left, to inside left position, means that we're not exactly gonna be short on cover out there..

Allegedly, the numbers they're saying Saudi are lining up is €85-90 million, which is roughly £72-75 million, which works out to what we'd expect to fork out if we offer him a new deal on bigger wages. There's no real downside for us in this.

Saudi bidding £100 million for Fernandes, who's two years older than Lucho, says it all to me. This is us keeping our powder dry until they inevitably get desperate for a "name" and drop that type of wedge into our laps. If not, he stays and we don't lose out. It's a win/win scenario.

I like Lucho, but if we get a mad offer from Saudi or elsewhere, then I fully expect the club to accept it. In not offering him a new deal, it says to me that we are viewing him as a prime sellable asset for right now, and if there's no acceptable offer, he'll just play his current deal out.

He's been very bright & busy, lots of nice touches. Tracked back more than once in this game as well, but I think he's been let down a few times by some of his teammates. Maybe not quite at his level.
