That's usually a safe assumption under a Republican president. I think what they missed was the fact that Trump is delusional, especially when it comes to tariffs, and unlike last time, there are no grown-ups in the room to stop him.

Yes, it puzzled me at the time...and still.

Huh? My point has nothing to do with race. I am merely saying that a rally is different than a voting precinct. Republicans don't care who has water at a rally. Nobody is voting at a rally. Restricting water or refreshments at a voting precinct might result in people going home and not voting.

Handing out water at a rally is different than at a voting precinct. With voters, the goal is to suppress votes by making voters stand in long lines with no access to water, especially in black & brown districts. Terrible and racist, but a rally is different.

When Republicans get power, they appeal to their base, ignoring half the country. When Democrats seek or get power, they twist themselves in knots to appeal to Republicans, taking their base for granted. Progressive Democrats have no voice, regardless of who is in power. 🤬

I lost a young, healthy brother in December 2020. While it's impossible to prove a counterfactual, I truly believe that my brother would be alive today if America had an actual president when COVID hit. There were tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths. Biden turned that ship around.

Trump was the president at the start of the deadliest pandemic to hit in a century. Instead of waging a response like any other president would have, he chose to downplay, deny, ignore, and lie about it because he thought it would help him politically.

There's not much worse than a "bait and switch" politician.

Details are important, but under Trump, the money is unlikely to fund programs that help ordinary Americans. Instead, it would probably offset tax cuts for the wealthy, fund immigration crackdowns, or disappear into the usual mix of corporate handouts and political favoritism.

Unlike Trump’s plan, most “Golden Visa” programs require investment, job creation, or real estate purchases. While these can invite security risks, money laundering, and corruption, Trump’s version is uniquely corrupt. It auctions off US citizenship to the highest bidder...just like the presidency.

The EB-5 program requires an investment in US businesses that create jobs. Trump's "Gold Card" is straightforward pay-to-play. A wealthy person pays the government for expedited residency and citizenship.
It follows a core MAGA tenet: special privileges for the rich and punishment for the poor.

Sure, why not just auction off citizenship to the highest bidder? It worked for the presidency.
Forget merit, commitment, contribution, or humanitarian need. Just cut to the front of the line if your check clears.
Nothing says "American values" like a pay-to-play scheme for the ultra-rich.

So, much like the presidency, U.S. citizenship is now just another luxury item for sale to the highest bidder. Nothing says "American values" like a pay-to-play scheme for the ultra-rich. Forget merit, commitment, contribution, or humanitarian need—just cut the line if your check clears.

This isn't Russia. We have so many tools available to keep the US from becoming Russia. But only way we do it is together.
Find community. Build community. Do something small every day, to encourage people, to motivate people, to show that we're all together agst our own authoritarian regime.

So, is "remote work" the new culture war? They should be able to do better than that! Maybe Trump is losing his schtick.
