"Metropolis" (1926) was my first attempt at scoring an entire film. May it offer silent film fans some enjoyment. 🙏 youtu.be/YdELAI_jRdI?...

My time studying martial arts was one in which I was immersed in old-world values. Loyalty, compassion, honor, honesty, etc. I recall a comment made by a fellow student that I thought perfectly summarized that moral code. He said, "In my world, if I say something, it is so." Let that sink in.

"You have the right to the work, but not to its fruits" - Bhagavad Gita This simple phrase captures a profound sense of inner freedom. One attains this freedom by doing things in the world while remaining detached from the outcome. It's a most worthwhile practice.

I see many posts here vying for attention, attempting to say something important and stand out from the crowd. Many marketing experts offer advice about how to "grow your audience, attract more clicks, and be seen as an authority in your niche."

The first time I saw this, I rejected it. I thought, "What about all the promises of profound experiences I've read about? What about all those gurus and teachers claiming meditation is the answer to all our problems?" And yet...

If you think privacy is compromised now... An AI device in your home that “will be capable of being fully aware of a user's surroundings and life, will be unobtrusive, able to rest in one's pocket or on one's desk.”. No way in hell it will be on my desk. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/what...

So film fans, is this the end of an era? It appears to be a fully AI film studio. It is getting backing from the likes of Google. www.promisestudios.com

I posted this on my blog as a reminder to myself. I've often forgotten gratitude for the gift of each day. I suspect I am not alone. lonepilgrim.substack.com/p/a-grateful...

When you get nasty comments on your posts, there is the temptation to retaliate. Try to remember that an unknown number of people are reading your work. They don’t comment or follow, but they are reading. When someone says something critical, mean, etc., respond with readers in mind.

This 8-minute scene from King of Kings (1927) was one of my favourites when writing the music. The emotions of loyalty, confusion, love, and betrayal are all on display. ericrmusic.com/the-last-su...

When I first saw paintings by Monet, the phrase "observed delicacy" was my inner response. It inspired me to write this music. May you observe delicacy within. 🙏 lonepilgrim.substack.com/p/monet

If you feel like you're losing everything. Remember, trees lose their leaves every year. Yet they still stand tall and wait for better days to come. - unknown

Among my earliest attractions to martial arts was the appeal of old-world values, emphasizing the nobility of the peaceful warrior. Having the skill to harm only when necessary, while remaining peaceful, is an uplifting idea.

This is a bookwheel. A magnificent 300-year-old library tool that enabled researchers to have seven books open at once.

Could this be a possible reason for the various messes we are seeing in western democracies? Have we elected mediocrities who would be better off serving coffee? open.substack.com/pub/lonepil...

In 1927, "Sunrise" was released. It was overlooked as it was competing with "The Jazz Singer," which heralded the era of sound. It's a beautiful film about love and redemption that inspired me to write new music for it. You can see it here. Enjoy! ericrmusic.com/sunrise/

It helps to remember that mere human beings are in charge of huge populations under the name "nation." They are as flawed as you and I. Not to be trusted, not to be condemned, not to be honoured.

As much as I support each person's spiritual life, I feel it's important to say this: Never, ever, surrender yourself to a human being. Surrender to your idea of God, yes. To another person, no. www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/new...

Creative works are presumed to be owned by their authors, composers, etc. Yet, placing one's works online opens the door to easy theft. Hence, the costs of copyright lawyers, etc. But if I am not trying to make money, why the copyright concern?

The loner in me is getting that queasy feeling the comes with being on a popular platform. At one time, I enjoyed Facebook. Then it became so crowded and invasive that I had to move on.

In spiritual life, as in everything, simplicity is better than complexity. The more direct, the more unadorned, the more without guile. These are simple, yet powerful means for connection.

We are individuals. So this seems wise.

Among the most debilitating traps is the apparent need for the approval of others. How does one be free of this seeming need?

When encountering the mystery, explanations falter. Yet we are drawn to it, immersed in it, and filled with reverence. The concerns of daily life pale in the presence of the mystery. For that, perhaps the best response is gratitude. www.theepochtimes.com/bright/touc...

The mystical path within Christianity is fascinating and uplifting. While I remain unconnected to any single tradition, articles like this encourage me to explore this one more deeply. The Meaning of Mystical Theology ino.to/9QeMuRp

Many feel a deep urge toward the unknown mystery of being. This urge compels us to attempt understanding. Some are satisfied with the surface, while others delve deeper.

I see many people espousing spiritual ideas turning towards political commentary. It is indeed tempting to remark on the world. Yet this turns attention from your Source.

Let go. This is the challenge of all spiritual traditions. It is simple yet not easy. That is why it requires concepts, intention, and practice.

Once aloneness (not loneliness) is an accepted fact, one can more easily develop meaningful relationships. This is because one no longer seeks others to feel complete. One can relate to them as genuine individuals.
