I'd be interested to know if that comes off as intuitive for someone that really is into Dr. Mario; the friend I go through these games with didn't realize that mechanic at all, and I only knew from the manual making a point of it.

Out of curiosity, were you able to get the hang of something like N64's multiplayer mode where the color you matched first determined which player got attacked by it? That was really tough for me to think about (felt more about survival) and we wondered if anyone could manage that aspect well

For me it just didn't quite click. Hard to say why. Does the collecting extend to the later installments like Dr. Mario 64? Or just the original game? (Incidentally, we did a podcast on both the NES and N64 Dr. Mario versions a couple months ago: www.theoldswitcharoo.com/episode-6-ho...
