I'm a current Harvard graduate student and I found out today that I had my NSF GRFP terminated without notification. I was awarded this individual research fellowship before even choosing Harvard as my graduate school

for some of these, how to start looking, how to start prepping, etc as someone who hasn't applied for a grant before. honestly, any insight, recommendations, advice, direction would be really helpful.

I'm the only one left in the sessions due to a series of unfortunate events. So I could use the company! But look at it this way, then you can go to any of the other sessions you want!

Yes! And I'm running the Mental Health Roundtable in Marriot Marquis Northwest which is probably nearby at 6pm so I'll be in the Marriot probably 3:45 and later!

I'm mostly in the Hilton for the biophys stuff but I'll try to come by the Marriot at some point!

(not because of you obviously. Idk if it reads that way.)

Thanks. This career is really not made for people like me is all I keep being reminded about.

flight. Maybe I should cancel my APS trip? And then the mental health roundtable gets canceled as I am the one running it? Is this worth it? I am feeling, no.

effectively 1 day of a conference. Adding in a hotel cost for 1 night, we which is at minimum 300 a night, we are now at $1475 (without food) which is my total conference budget for the year and I attend for 24hrs where I am sleeping possibly 6 hours and feeling bad the next day after a very late

This also means I'd have to leave the conference at around 2:30pm so the one day I pay for is really half a day. Or, the full week I pay for so I can run the session Wednesday night as well, will be one day of feasible conference attendance. So we are at 675+500+ lots of travel and driving for

Anaheim, the cheapest I can possibly get is like $500. That is if I am not using my local airport and I am driving ~2 hours away. (My return flight will be landing 1am in Houston and I will still need to get my bag and drive home arriving at around 3:30am where I would have meetings 9am and teaching

I could do a 1 day (2 day registration is more than full registration which is silly) which is $419 today, $500 tomorrow. But unfortunately, I have two different days I need to be there with a talk and a session I am running so I will have to pay the 675. If I think about the cost of flights to

I am not far enough from my PHD grad date, that I have to pay full registration fees for conferences and do not have the "early career" label, despite feeling very much "early career." March meeting registration is 675 for early. This increases to $805 tomorrow (so over half my allotted funding).

bad, it was just a very powerful story with meaningful moments and amazing music and it's been a core part of me since I was a child.

how to let others in, and let people help her. I feel like those are just important characterizations that you didn't see in many video games especially in like 1994. Plus the idea that the world literally gets destroyed and the protags don't give up and still come together despite things looking

8. Final Fantasy 6. My favorite video game. Idk why. I really liked that there were female protagonists that were interesting. One who was severely abused but overcame trauma and learned to love herself and others, and another that was misguided and felt she had to be cold for surviving but learned

7. My cats: Millie, Fermi, and Minki. We've had Millie and Fermi since 2012 & it was the best decision ever. I don't know if I'd have made it through my postdoc living alone without them. Minki is a new addition but reminds me that I am loved. They are the best cats even when they are little shits

5. (Hey the physics/math prof can't count okay?) D&D. Something I wish I had more time for and wish I had people nearby that I could play with, but when we do play it's such a great time

6. @fierceferrets.bsky.social :) we've known each other forever (okay since 1994) and I feel like even though our lives have taken us apart and various points and we are both busy and stressed, we always support each other. I have wonderful memories I look back on writing stories and role playing

I could be working on these year around and keep improving them and learning new crafting skills and it's been a fun get away.

4. Cosplaying/costumes and making them. Before I knew what cosplays were, I wanted to make costumes and dress up. My poor mother who had a child that wanted to make wild things that were not the standard costumes when I was a child. At least she helped me with those. It was only recently I realized

3. Well I feel this should have been first but my spouse @mike-dimitriyev.bsky.social of course :) I don't think I'd be here without his support and help over the years. Before him, I felt like I'd never find someone who would "get me", when I was friends with him, I couldn't imagine anyone else who

2. Parks & Rec. One of the comfort shows @mike-dimitriyev.bsky.social and I watch especially in hard times. I think we both really relate to Leslie and Ben but we just love how happy the group of friends are and how they support each other. It's also the right type of humor for me.

1. Baldur's Gate 3. I've been playing it non-stop since I got it last year and I love the game play, the story, the characters, the music. It's been one thing that's helped me through a very hard time. Recommend even if you aren't a gamer.

currently looking for a psychiatrist (as I do not have one) to work on ADHD specifically however I am on medication. The medication I feel helped so far especially when I first started, but after having to stop due to job changing and moving, being back on them hasn't helped much in this regard.
