And one more thing... He can write a great villain. The most underrated is Norman of Rose Madder. Abuser, manipulator, cop...very grounded and very scary.

Completely agree. I thought that's why the novel Revival stand up so well; when the boy, Jamie, meets the antagonist of the story, King fleshes out the child's growth so well that it remains relevant as we follow him through adulthood. With King - for me - it's about characters.

I purchased DS when it came out (I was a teen) as the cover caught my attention in the grocery store. Seriously. I had never read King prior to that. It was attention to the characters that pushed me. The Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's series was absolutely fantastic and very creative.
