Gimme Steph because he’s young enough that a new iteration of GS is still possible and Kerr and that organization have maintained some semblance of culture and winning for long enough to trust they know what they’re doing

Really enjoyed her in the Lebatard universe. She brought a lot of good takes and a different perspective and approach. Wish her luck in the future endeavor

The luxury tax doesn’t bother them, obviously.

I’m going to appreciate the hell out of this entire trip no matter how miserable an 18 hour car ride is under any conditions 😆 it’s already been worth it.
So I guess lastly, and the gambit of the entire thread:
I’ve made it to my destination and we’re 37.5 hours kickoff.

I love my wife’s family as if they’re my own. Who they are as individuals, their character, values, their flaws, scars, their acceptance of a schmuck like me. And I appreciate this guy specifically for trusting me, the schmuck, with his daughter all those years ago and all he’s done for us since.

So…now about the conversation, I genuinely enjoy hearing his stories and opinions and thoughts. It’s always interesting and thoughtful and genuine. Knew heading into this trip what I was getting myself into and was never intimidated or nervous of any sort. I love the conversations we have. Truly.

I must admit, that lane assist caught me a couple times too. When you’re going a little too hot into corners, it closes the skirts of the road and I can’t do my best Indy car impression and just hug the turn a bit; so I got pushed back (lesson learned 😂)
Brakes were also admittedly “touchy”

He darts off an exit quickly to get coffee and casually strolls through a red light 🫣 I laugh it off because a semi WASNT coming 😂 Lane assist with no blinker changing lanes reeked havoc on the interstate until the GA/FL border then he batted about .918 the rest of the way, admirable turn around!

18 hours…I’m in bed. Turns out last shift was his, so it was showtime for Tom the amateur interviewer. I rocket fire ? after ? to help keep us both alert and pass time. The drive, actually smooth and easy sailing for the most part. After a few minor hiccups but fair enough. (Cont. (obviously) )

Update; truck comes behind us on interstate “with his f***ing brights on” (they weren’t 😂) but he lets the guy pass, then proceeds to flash his brights in the guys rear view about 10 times. “Asshole” I’m literally holding back a belly laugh

An hour into his second shift and we’re “stopping for coffee”. 😬😒😂

I didn’t want to give up the wheel but he didn’t give me a choice. Back to bobbin and weavin and trying to stay sane and not get sick. Might try to nap

After a LONG shift, we’ve made it to southern Georgia through another tank of gas. Highlights; to snores that woke himself up, and then after his nap, like an iPad kid, turned on the Packers game and he was content until we needed to stop. Only 5 more hours until we reach our destination. 🫡

Finally got my turn behind the wheel. Whew. I feel better and so does my stomach. 39 mins in and snoring ensues from my passenger. So much for the entertainment portion of the trip.

So far, we’ve been on the road for 4 hours now and we’ve had dozens of interesting conversations but the only true noteworthy thing is, there are a lot more assholes on the road in his eyes than mine 😂. I’m wishing I was driving the whole time. The braking and swerving is a lot. Lol

Well, we’re off…kinda 😂 Had to make a stop back at his house after he picked me up because he forgot something. No big deal. Weren’t even out of my neighborhood yet. Rainy morning but we’re on our way.

Brutal loss. Lots to work on. Played with number 1 for 40 minutes. Just can’t be careless in the last 2 mins against good teams. Onto Mizzou!
MISSOURI SUCKS

First half has been physical, ugly basketball. A lot of second chance opportunities given away on the defensive glass. And a lot of missed bunnies around the hoop. Gotta be sharp against teams this good!

Underrated trades/signings that come to mind that were huge at the time were the Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee moves. Also, Alfonso Soriano had “superstar” signing all over it. But as far as impact acquisitions, Tucker is up there…as long as they sure up the pen and actually make the playoffs

Buddy, I’m a Cubs fan. I’d flip channels to watch a Bonds AB if Sosa was up to bat. He was automatic.

Let’s put it this way, Barry Bonds would be worth a billion dollars if he was a 26 year old FA. And worth every penny by value for the next 15 years.

At least before it was obvious. Who knows when or what any of those guys were using. Like McGwire and Canseco in ‘88 were clearly already juiced up.
Regardless though, Bonds was always clearly better than the rest of the league. With or without the needle

Intentionally walked with bases loaded, and it was the right move. That’s probably not something you’ll ever see again. Just preposterous that it’s even a thing.
