Tip: if you use CSS animation to show/hide site content, double-check that it still works if Reduce-Motion Preferences are enabled in your OS settings. I had that setting turned on today (as many do all the time) and personally ran into a couple non-functioning navigation menus. Easy to mess that up

Credit where credit is due: "We're all going to die" is the first thing any Republican has said in years that isn't a lie.

I LOVE this …Chart of Shame on webstatus.dev/stats “Features missing in only one browser”. Even lets you click on individual data points and see which features each browser is holding the Web back from! Hopefully it will motivate implementations of these features!

People don’t understand the challenges straight men are facing right now. If I reconnect with an old friend I haven’t seen in years, he might want to talk about crypto. Or lay out his strategy for online sports betting. He might even have an opinion on “the whole gender thing.” It’s terrifying.

I wonder what engineering teams could accomplish if the C-Suite gave them the same freedom and trust they give AI coding systems.

New post! jordanseiler.xyz/posts/2025-0... This is a short one. More technically substantial content to follow soon. I’ve drawn diagrams and everything 🤯

I think I’ve seen enough to determine that Republicans are trying to convince Americans that health care 1) is pointless and/or 2) is something we don’t deserve. Also that sickness is a personal failing. This is how they are trying to justify cuts to our meager health care programs.

Practice guilt-free reading. Read whenever you want, whatever you want, and in whichever format you prefer. #BookSky

if dems want messaging help, stop telling people you're "fighting back." it sounds like you're being mugged. call off the podcaster search, take your ridiculous money pile and try opening some food banks and free clinics. hurricanes are coming and the feds have no plan. looks like an opening to me.

Two baby giraffes are missing from the Natural Bridge Zoo. The state alleges former zoo owner threatened to shoot veterinarians and current owner hoped one giraffe expert would be killed.

I sure would like an alternative to VSCode but it seems so many of the other editor projects are riding the AI hype train. I tried VIM and liked it but spent *so much time* configuring it and keeping it going.

There is no such thing as a "liberal Joe Rogan." People aren't looking for someone to make them feel good about their best instincts, they want someone to make them feel good about the shitty things they think.

every time I see one of those rants that include an"Ozempic is a weight loss drug" rants its like yes it is and you're simply gonna ignore that it functionally cures Type 2 diabetes and to land whatever zinger you think you've cooked up here huh

The new Neil Halloran documentary on Smallpox has completely changed how I see the RFK Jr. version of the world. Neil (softly) argues that realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.

RIP Joe Don Baker, who was an excellent actor! For real. He may not have been happy with MST3K but that’s fine, he had every right to not love puppets making jokes about him. Whomst among us can blame him? Anyway his great career speaks for itself. Rest well JDB.

Are developers falling out of love with Apple? My most recent musing brucelawson.co.uk/2025/are-dev...

A lot of work AI tools want to do for me is stuff I really need to do myself. Note-taking, summarizing … coding! These aren’t mechanical tasks for me or boxes to check, they are crucial labor for me to understand what’s going on.

Me and my complicated relationship with Mother’s Day out here never knowing how to feel. 🤷‍♀️ So feel how you feel today, I guess?

Ran into a frustrating grid layout problem, popped open the video from last week’s workshop with @miriam.codes , found the fix instantly. Thanks!

You know how they say to get your cat their own keyboard so they stop walking on your keyboard?

These assholes have no idea how hostile I am to political texts.

I am upset that scrum fails so many places when I *know* it can work. I've seen it work very well indeed. I've been wondering why, and I've come to the conclusion that the values scrum requires just aren't shared by most companies that attempt it. www.thudfactor.com/posts/2025/0...

When I posted this earlier forgot to post a de-paywalled link ... talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/play-...

It’d be kinda nice if elected Democrats could find it in them to treat their own voters even 10% as respectfully as they do their Republican colleagues, aka the murderous racist fucks destroying democracy. Puts their priorities in perspective, huh?

I could be wrong about this but I really think most Americans do not want to be forced to “do their own research” about food & drug & product safety and would rather that the government agencies that have been sorting that all out for them for decades not be obliterated in the name of “efficiency.”

Post genre on bluesky that "Discover" thinks is interesting that I absolutely do not: video posts with no useful description. I cruise without autoplay on for accessibility reasons, and if there's no description I ain't pressing "play"
