this is like child-proofed html; no sharp edges.

The way you responded initially, I should have known something was up. I just figured he was one of those people that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Actually. That's what throws me the most. Longtime fan of Basecamp's ethos, and occasional stumbler upon of DHH's ramblings, but they usually seemed relatively harmless in their excentricity. This is a genuinely fucked thing to put out online, especially as you say on a branded blog. I'm at a loss.

Jesus christ, I wasn't aware of *this* bullshit he's spewing (just went to his other blog posts, after having been linked to his "why don't people use linux post) from a youtube video. I knew he was an annoying windbag but didn't realize he was toxic culture warrior 🤮 world.hey.com/dhh/gender-a...

Touché. I guess the best argument would be because he's relatively famous and so it's moderately interesting to see him proselytizing for linux use 🤷‍♂️

I know I know, it's not a distro. But's it's basically a distro. I know it doesn't maintain its own repos and that's probably the key disctinction, but for new users it will feel like a custom distro.

Technically I changed the hyperkey mod in Karabiner to this one, because I needed the "single tap=caps lock" functionality for my Raycast escape remapping to work. ke-complex-modifications.pqrs.org#hyper_key

As it turns out, only politics we would call “left” do any of this. So no I’m not a centrist either.

No problem! I too would love to see Framework’s take on this. The 12 is a really cool product in the meantime but I would also prefer a more surface/ipad-like experience

Not sure if you’ve seen this before or if it fits the bill but I came across it a while back and it looks pretty cool. I would NOT run Ubuntu on a tablet though. All kinds of Jank. Fedora is much smoother whether Gnome or KDE. ca.starlabs.systems/pages/starlite

Just realized how meta it is (or maybe just a sign of our fragmented social media sphere) that on Bluesky I shared a screenshot of a post on Farcaster where I shared a screenshot of a post from Bluesky

Shared a similar sentiment on Farcaster recently.

Was it Techlore? I know he works for Cake Wallet and rides the line between super informed/helpful, and a little cringey/preachy youtube.com/shorts/uszPs...

Some people will never learn. Bluesky and Mastodon are *far better* for us as actual people, not just as a data point for some rich folk.

I don’t even know which one I’m supposed to use for what. I just used 4o for everything

Yeah like why wouldn’t they blur out the content behind like now? There is no world where people want to see what’s behind the shade. The whole reason for the shade is that you want to interact with that when it’s pulled down.

Agreed. I think it’s super impressive but it’s not enough visual information for my mind. Even having two similarly coloured apps beside each other fucks me up often enough, the last thing I want is zero colour cues. That said, I have some focus modes that use tinting to prevent distraction 🤔

This video is promising because it may speak to an unreadiness at the time of launch, which can be corrected over time. As a design language, Liquid Glass does look really thoughtful and functional. I’m hopeful they get it fixed by September.
