Not quite true, thankfully. My daughter did her final year history project on the famine at her middle England comprehensive and got excellent marks. Apart from reading it up, she researched it at the Strokestown famine museum during one of our frequent visits to Ireland.

When I lived in Fulham in the 70s I had a PLA mudlarking licence. Lots of pipe stem pieces and just one bowl. Oh, and leeches.
