Another way of saying this, per @stephenkb.bsky.social this morning, is Labour seem to strongly believe that incentives/animal spirits bind absolutely in tax policy but have to micro-manage a plethora of market failures everywhere else. Infuriatingly inconsistent on their own terms.

An SME that has sales below £90k for any length of time is not likely to be tomorrow's star company. In general a tax system that has flat low equal taxes on everyone is good for growth.

Dealing with hard cases is a sensible move. Spending big money on winter fuel while saying concessions on disability benefits and the two child limit are unaffordable would be the wrong choice for a government focused on living standards for all. Pensioner poverty has fallen and is set to fall.
