This seems to justify at a minimum the removal of Kristi Noem as quickly as a the legal process permits.

I absolutely agree with everything here, but it would appear that you may be one of the people best positioned to help put it to an end.

This is beyond horrifying. It is a clear attempt to use executive power to subdue legislative authority. Every person involved, particularly Kristi Noem should be held accountable using every lawful mechanism to do so.

This is deeply disturbing. Actions such as these must be halted immediately using every lawful process if we want to maintain a functional democracy.

I knew a second Trump term would be bad. I voted against him every single chance I got. I have to confess, I didn't realize it would be **this** bad. Apparently, neither did many of his (hopefully former) supporters.

The Bill is deeply unwise and apparently also deeply unpopular.

Merrick Garland is a superb lawyer. It just so happened that he is also a cautious and careful lawyer (usually good things!) at a time when it would have been better for the country to have a lawyer in that position that was prepared to act as quickly as the process permitted.

Trump's term should end even sooner than that. There are abundant reasons to impeach right now. Orders to deploy active duty troops in response to protests and the handling of the Abrego Garcia matter are the two biggest though definitely not only reasons.

To be fair to Trump, whether a phone call happened yesterday, or two days ago, or three days ago is something I could get wrong while speaking extemporaneously. That said, it is appalling how some reporters are bending over backwards to make it seem true, and Trump does lie often.

Evidence would be nice, but I find it far easier to believe Gov. Newsom than Pres. Trump in a disagreement.

Our democracy may possibly be at risk right now, but the threat is not from the protestors.

Our First Amendment guarantees, under ordinary circumstances at least, the right to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for redress of grievances. That very comfortably covers, under ordinary circumstances, the right to protest in the streets.

It appears that he and many others in the Trump Administration have just been making shit up for a bit.

A power grab like this would justify impeachment by itself. There are no shortage of other items to add to articles of impeachment.

This is beyond repugnant.

Considering how it ended, this novella could really use a sequel.

I hope not. Having the Democrats publicly embrace Musk just because he has turned on Trump seems deeply unwise as a strategy and morally questionable when Musk has not exactly disavowed his prior morally reprehensible actions.

Trump's actions are absurd. Even setting aside the fact it is the morally right thing to do, it is in our national interest to support Ukraine.

Unless there was some reason that walk was unusually dangerous, this is obscene. The parents were letting their kids be kids in exactly the way that helps kids learn to eventually be adults.

And the ability to grow coffee or cocoa beans in the U.S. is *very* limited. Things like lithium are much more readily available in places other than North America.

I'm in law. I like to use it as a sounding board and it can be helpful as a **start** to research in some cases. But that is it and even those uses must be done with extreme caution on my opinion. It is blatantly wrong often and many lawyers have been sanctioned for blindly trusting it.

Yes, "used well", LLMs and AI in general can be a powerful and useful. But it is very easy to use them badly in ways that can have unfortunate consequences. Also, it is worth acknowledging that at a minimum, there are ethical questions around most generative AI and how it was trained.

Trump continues to be petty. He is a horrible person and he shows it more by the day.

Every indication is that this bill is deeply unwise.

This bill is foolish.

I mean, I agree with you on this completely and absolutely. But at the current moment, the fact Trump is lying, provably and obviously, again seems like the more salient issue.

Most of them didn't *knowingly* vote for the horrible things he is doing. They were lied to and believed it. This is an opportunity to show them the huge difference between what they thought they were supporting and what Trump and his allies are doing. That is more effective than blaming them.

Things tend not to look great when you try to defend the indefensible.

Very little of what Trump says has any basis in reality.
