Here to try to keep track of the advance of Neofascism and occasionally mouth off-hopefully without consequence for comrades/loved ones

@tomsclark.bsky.social true but also we face a Fascist coalition promulgating no-holds-barred class war in aid of replacing our political system with a police state. The White Supremacist/Nationalist wing of said coalition headed by Miller literally views this as ethnic cleansing-which it is.

Whoa. 1. Who was the actual shooter and are they now in custody? Can they be interviewed? 2. Since when do city governments give permits to business entities designed to shield from accountability, repped by ghosts? 3. Is such a permitting process standard for 50501 nationally? 4. False flag??

Hah! What a lame bagel partisan I am. No that's the place. In my defense I think it's spelled both ways. Somewhere. I've never had a Canadian bagel so actually can't continue in good faith. Someday. Maybe I could get out of this shithole country, move there, and moan about missing Kossar's.

idk, eating fresh bagels drunk in the middle of the night is sublime, seems worth talking about, and is mentioned on this thread? But if I must be serious about this, will have to use the Socratic approach. Have you ever had a Kozar's (ancient Lower East Side bakery) bagel fresh out of the oven?

I feel that someone has to speak up. Of course all baked goods are better right out of the oven drunk. But there are bagels right out of an oven drunk somewhere in Canada and then there are bagels right out of the oven drunk at Kozars, sorry.

That we are "... completely unable to have a serious conversation..." about it is in fact some form of genuine institutional antisemitism and coming from some quarters, by no means just institutional but at least mixed w/ quite overt antisemitism.

... I suspect they are at least experimenting with/considering the idea of using the tension between Fed vs State weed laws to break State sovereignty & get troops into blue cities where there are Cannabis points of sale everywhere.

Interesting. I think the word comes from the idea of Liberal (as opposed to Illiberal) democracy-"a proponent of Liberal Democracy". The "Founding Fathers"-revolutionaries-were Liberals. Ronald Reagan & Bush Senior successfully converted the word to a pejorative during their Presidential campaigns.

I have that impression too. No ground game whatsoever. In contrast the city was literally inundated w/ Mamdani volunteers for weeks.

This brings up an interesting (interesting to me anyway) question. In my view "the Left" is a continuum and liberals are a broad and increasingly vague category on that continuum, somewhere near the center. Who is the Left? What are Liberals?

That's kind of... robotic?

Left coalition politics can beat Fascist coalition politics!

Bibi exists too. Fascism is not exclusive to, or excluded from, any human group.

Are podcast bros journalists or what are they? Ppl like Rogan & Carlson sort of purport to be but seem to try to straddle entertainment and journalism in a slippery way. Journalism has culture and can be about culture but is journalism itself culture?

I eventually read the premise here as: "Dems should have their own champions and by extension their own politics"-very important idea in this moment.

Almost passed on reading because "Dem Joe Rogan" is such an abysmally stupid construct-super interesting convo though. Disagree that the right is even capable of producing quality cultural content, and not sure podcast bros are even cultural content. Though not sure what they are.
