I don't know if you know this, but Elvis Pressley said I was the greatest singer of my generation. He was sensational. Used to wear denim, you know. From Glamorgan. Very big in the 80s.
Still...Shakey.

Feel a bit like a dog who finally caught up to the car. I'm not sure what to do now. Maybe it's because I'm older, but I thought I'd feel more giddy about this. Maybe because we actually win things now. But the performances of the team are the only thing that brings joy. Bring on the new season.

There is no dilemma. That dilemma is what Infantino is banking on. Fuck the whole thing, everything it stands for, and everything they think they can sell us this easily.

Maybe there's an Oyvind Leonhardsen or Nicky Barmby signing on the way to help the more middle aged of us feel grounded.

It’s almost too much to get your head around. It’s like we actually landed one of those bonkers Teamtalk phone line rumours in the 90s. “Liverpool close to shock Rivaldo coup.” It feels very strange to be able to get this done.

Man, look at those tiny arms. I’m surprised he can reach his own pockets. Clearly a bust already.

Sami is the one you remove? I love Carra. I do. But there was a time when Sami may have been the finest center half on earth. When he stepped in, I remember realizing what it felt like, probably for the first time, to have a true world beater in the team.

Look, there are reasons. Fine. I get it. I think the reaction was mean spirited and beneath us. But beyond that, it made the team’s job harder and that was stupid.

That’s all fine but it’s done now and that was all a bit too vindictive for a lad who’s given us some of our best moments in decades. And besides that, the booing was counterproductive and weird. Wanting one of our own players to perform in a way that makes it less likely we beat Arsenal is idiotic.

Well said. All of it. Absolutely horrible to watch. Must have been so much worse in the ground.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but also maybe booing him doesn’t help him be super sharp when it comes to stepping out on time and catching Arsenal offside just there.

The crowd made their point. Now please shut the fuck up and let him play. He’s still on our fucking team.

True. They might sign a 9 this summer but I don’t think it’s a panacea. Liverpool have won with a false 9. Pep’s best teams were made of 15 attacking midfielders. PSG just last night showed their clinical edge with…Ruiz and Hakimi. There’s a lot more they have to fix than just buying a striker.

Pimento. Amazing. Also amazing as Derek in the Good Place. ‘Here we go with this whole “no genitals” thing again. You're the one that gave me wind chimes instead of a penis, Janet.’

So much to like overall. The only kicker is seeing Higgins go early. Much will turn on Williams.

Wasn’t aware he played inside only 25%. That’s helpful to know. Thanks Doug. Do you think he can translate that outside ability to the NFL?

Can Williams play on the perimeter? Going RB at 38 was a head scratcher. Like something out of a Bill draft!

The punter/kicker divide is super fun. "What do you expect me to do, kick the ball in TWO DIFFERENT WAYS? Now hang on a darn tootin."

Insightful, David. I think you’re right on the aerial duels. It’s probably easier to coach a 6’6 kid to use his size better in the air than it is to coach almost anyone to defend in space. I don’t know what Virg’s aerial duel percentage was when he was 20, but Huijsen is facing better players.

I just don't get how we do this every year and it's a significant part of our opening strategy every time. And then 2 or 3 months in, we have a lineup where we just have no real idea in what order they should bat. It's incredible.
