Very pleased to say I no longer have to touch RxJava ever again (though I actually dumped it long ago)

Thanks for the pointer... but it's not quite ready for the likes of me 😐

Wow! That's quite a revelation. I always preferred scripting stuff using cUrl, but some of my developers definitely use Postman. Indeed time to find an alternative.

I recently worked on upgrading a website to a web app. The old site was so old it had a site counter 😆 and they actually wanted to keep that functionality. And like you say - it was freakishly fiddly to reimplement using modern practices, with an eye on big scale

I like it when I stumble across one of these. It's almost a mark of quality in a small business - everything going well enough that nobody needed to bother about the website

Surely the only reason to disallow symbols, is to help them store the password insecurely. If you're hashing it properly symbols should make no difference.

Good to know. I'm watching this space very closely, definitely want to upgrade beyond x86 but need to have a fully working laptop. I'm technical, so I'm happy to fight technical battles to get there, but it just feels a little out of reach at the moment.

That's what I'd heard ... not too keen on ThinkPad though. Interestingly your laptop is on the supported list according to discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-24-... . So your experience is useful to me in terms of understanding what "supported" looks like.

I'm looking to upgrade my XPS 15 from 2020 to a new XPS 13. Did you have to fight much to get to the works-pretty-well state?

I learnt it so long ago (back when it was what you had to learn to write Windows applications) that all my sources are way out of date
