the thing, but with the vibes of not the thing

So, yes, it does serve the Trump admin well to have people focussed on the thing they can't do something about rather than the thing they can.

And in terms of the politics, there's really not much to be done about a Supreme Court decision. There is much that can be achieved however, in trying to undermine the passage of legislation that will take away healthcare from 16 million people.

Not sure there's a contradiction here. Much of what the Trump admin serves both as cruelty in and of itself, _and_ it's a distraction. Cruelty, unfortunately, serves well as a shiny object.

Just the first of the plagues, with any luck.

I think the pro-civility centrist position is now: Abolish Ice

In Texas I understand people say: all hat no cattle In the UK we say: all mouth, no trousers I think we can safely assume both apply here.

Trump is a guy with a devil on each shoulder: political self interest on one and vindictiveness on the other

It's almost as if mass deportation is the ice-cream Trump reaches for when he's having a bad day.

And basically we should do this with any policing organization that has veered into militarization or thuggery.

This is consistent with he big thing that's missed in the abolish police/abolish ice discourse. Which is that the actually useful idea is that it is an effective strategy to disband toxic policing organizations and replace them with a new org that fills approximately the same niche.

Governors have a choice when dealing with Trump. To do a Whitmer, or a reverse-Whitmer. Props to Newsom for choosing the latter.

I will say that my Tesla has improved markedly with small unpredictable objects - it now makes pretty strenuous efforts to try and avoid squirrels, with predictably humorous results. But that's better than just ploughing through. A good percentage of my takeovers has been to avoid hitting them.

That and the hit-and-run nature of it.

I wonder how this would compare with human reaction times - it does stop, after all. It just doesn't react quick enough - but humans have that issue too. What seems more egregious is it completely misses the spot sign that's extended from the bus.

The spaceship/moon distinction is usually covered between the ages of 3 and 5. Did he miss out?

A reverse-Whitmer.

He's doing the reverse-Whitmer.

Prime Minister is a better term. Fits well with 'King' too.
comment in response to post
Prime Minister might be a better term. 'co-president' implies more collaboration than is probably warranted.
comment in response to post
Perhaps. I'm not left at all, but I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for someone other than Cuomo.

The tragic ain't stopping till Jan 2029.

Love it. Some echos of Densmore and Krieger there.

Yes. Be careful. Or we'll send over Paul McCartney. And then you'll be sorry.

Ha ha ha ha ha haha ha hahaha

Yep, as soon as Federal agents stop harassing, assaulting and kidnapping civilians. This is the same rank idiocy that has people blaming Ukraine for 'escalating' against Russia.

And it leads to an important observation... it's not the liberalness of blue states that leads to blocking development, it's primarily the conservatism. It's just the sort of conservatism that doesn't conflict with voting Democrat.

Less lethal is a pretty good name. As in: getting hit by a car going at 30 miles an hour is less lethal than getting hit by one going at 50.

It would be even better if he's just going with political trends. That would mean that there is a good trend.

You have to hand it to Leavitt. In an administration of Fox-news inspired plastic surgery faces, she persists with Instagram face.

All they need is a flag. One that's almost, but not quite, the stars and stripes.
