Re: slide rules. One of the first things you master is "order of magnitude."
This article makes me think that order of magnitude is being ignored in ways even more fundamental than getting the decimal point in the right place.

Well, since the LEOs who I know, including US Marshals, say they voted for Trump, I’d be inclined to think that it’s probably a good idea. Sad, but necessary. 🤷🏻♀️
