There is a phenomenon with trans people of doubling down on doing gender correctly, which for me was getting her married and having kids. That was the time of pushing myself to conform to the greatest extent of my life and in a way it did break me.

Listening to Johnny talk about their experience of going through birth and loss and parenting hit very close to home, this was a lot of how I felt at the time even though my egg hadn't cracked yet.

The parenting aspect of transition was the hardest to overcome. Being the parent of girl children meant that I felt the societal pressure of an obligation to not transition for them.
