Happy Istanbuhl was Constantinople day!* Today marks the day in 1453 when the Byzantines at Constantinople fell to the Ottoman forces of Mehmed II. Also the official end to the Roman empire, modern toxic masculinity grifters not withstanding. * not official until 1920's

Friends, my publisher has noticed that many, many of you signed up to win a copy of A PHILOSOPHY OF THIEVES last month — so many that they wanted to give you all another chance to win with a second (!) #goodreadsgiveaway now through June 10! Go grab your chance! www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...

Remember folks: always refer to it as "TACO trade." Trump Always Chickens Out. Apparently he HATES that term www.nj.com/politics/202...

TIL about Theagenes of Thasos, an athlete in ancient Greece so good that, when he died, a jealous rival attacked his statue, which fell on the man, killing him. Naturally, they put the statue on trial, convicted it of murder, and threw it into the sea. Later, this became a Good Place plot point.

Oooh! One day until a new BfB issue!

Here's a peek at our fantastic non-fiction for summer. Issue drops on June 1st Subscribe now! magazine.trollbreath.com/membership-a...

I've had this issue where I need to paste a Word document into another form, but the formatting gets stripped. Now you have to go back through and find all the italicized words and redo them in the new location. Pain in the butt to hunt them all down. Today I found a way to make it easier.

Less than a week to go before issue 4 drops. I think we're ready to put this one to bed in anticipation of release day!

New Issue drops soon!! Subscribe now for access to the entire issue on JUNE 1ST. magazine.trollbreath.com

Have I mentioned that we have some fucking PHENOMENAL non-fiction coming up in the June issue? No? Well, here's what we have on slate: 1. Born of Echoes: A Glimpse into the Origins of the Sauútiverse, by Xan van Rooyen 2. Rogue Thoughts: Life on Titan, by Christopher Mark Rose cont....

I live for things such as "Oscar the Grouch is actually orange, and it's part of Sesame Street canon." This all occurred when I was very young, but I absolutely remember seeing the bits where he visited the swamp. Just forgot about the rest. www.instagram.com/p/DJuZJhTJUW...

Hi, lovers of queer SFF! Over at @othersidespec.bsky.social, we’re planning ahead for our Kickstarter, and we’re looking for writers who might be willing to donate virtual rewards (think story/query crit, Zoom chat). Is this (potentially) you? If so, we would love to talk to you—send me a DM! 🪐 🗡️ 🌈

Agree with this take and hope more states take up these bans, but please PLEASE do not make it the responsibility of teachers, but of the front office admins. Teachers have enough to deal with already. Turn it in at the front door. Get it back at the front door. Office staff monitors. Done.

Was examining the data from my weather station (yes, I am a weather dork), and I noticed that on May 7th, it recorded a 111.8 mph wind gust on an otherwise boring gray day with showers (no big storm). I've found no other days that come remotely close. Had to have been a glitch. So weird.

Trying to set up my first doctor's visit in ages (want to get started with regular checkups, nothing is wrong), and it's weird having to explain that, other than one emergency room visit two years ago, I haven't seen a doctor for almost thirty years, so there's no medical history I can provide.

Tech bro's only know how to fuck things up. So, while I applaud Jony's view here about the damage smart phones have created to society, leaning into AI to "solve" the issue is like replacing conventional bombs with nuclear and thinking that made war better. www.the-independent.com/tech/iphone-...

I finally am reading Babel by R.F. Kuang, and I'm just blown away by all the linguistics detail. Much denser info than I'll ever write into a novel. A very good story indeed, one that holds a mirror up to our modern realities while reflecting a slightly distorted image of an earlier time period.

Donnie's Bad Bankrupting Bill passed the house by 1 single vote. The fact that three elderly Democratic members died since March, leaving three vacant seats, did not help in the slightest. Time for the Democrats to get younger. Give leadership to AOC, get Nancy and her generation to retire.

I would love it if every single fucking teacher in this nation went on immediate strike over this absolute bullshit take about their worth. Also, fuck Duolingo, which has gone all in on AI bullshit. Cancel that crap if you're using it. fortune.com/2025/05/20/d...

"One bill to rule them all; One bill defines them; One bill corrupts it all and democracy will die in; in the Land of Donnie where the traitors lie...."

Oh, now I'mma gonna use MORE of the little bastards; just you wait and see.
