I missed it at first, then heard it via a Harvey mix that was making the rounds around 2010 or so.
Just saw in my Bandcamp feed that the LP got a well-deserved digital rerelease.
A classic.

2nd best was AR Kane at Maxwell’s Hoboken. (‘94? ‘95?)
This was the New Clear Child era when they had left the feedbacky distorted guitars of the first LP well behind. I went not expecting much, but it easy to walk over to Maxwell’s. The concert however was, unexpectedly, vintage fuzz heaviness.

Jeru is always the act the comes to mind for me—just ‘cause everyone I knew anywhere at the time had the same experience. Berating the audience, complaining about sound, etc…

Felt a surprisingly intense burst of anger to learn this.
I suppose “rumbustification” wouldn’t fly either…

We recently welcomed a fetch kitty into our house too! It makes me think of Checkers from Esther Averill’s Cat Club books.
He has a distinctive meow when he wants to let us know it’s fetch time (at least once a day). We had a rough few days when his favorite toy went missing in the house.

My first semester of college, the previous resident of my dorm room left a shoebox of tapes up up in the closet and this was one of them. Provided me with a bunch of awesome music.

I still remember, all these years later, eyerolling severely at Avital Ronell’s The Telephone Book, with its Glas/Post Card-esque typographical shtick, where the parts that were blurred out were then just reprinted clean right after the blurs, making sure no lacuna goes unfilled.

Was just doing some digging into minor synth guys last week and thought of this again myself.

One discovery of this winter is that we moved into a neighborhood with a bunch of retirees just itching to plow out the blocks with their snowblowers and was I ever thankful yesterday. Took me all day to shovel out the zone between the alley road and our garage doors. 🥵

Looking at it again, this time I hear like the very bland, high synth tone of, say, the device they use to test hearing, where the tone changes by turning a knob, with an audible click as it goes from one detent to the next.

I will absolutely be using this to describe the behavior of Mr. Recently-Arrived-in-the-Household Kitty. 😤😩
