So many in urban ponds near me! 😞

Cute, but they predate on turtles! 😞 And…we don’t call them subsidized (turtle) predators for nothing… they are very abundant here too!

That’s what threw some people off too. I think going by the mouth ridges and dorsolateral folds it’s a Wood Frog.

I felt the same, it is indeed a Wood Frog. The eye mask is not very visible on this one.

Agreed!

Yes and another herper mentioned how the dorsolateral folds go all the way down to the legs in Wood Frogs. When the “eye mask” is nearly invisible I think those other characteristics help.

Yes!! And the snapper was so unbothered by me. But I am so sad that most of my photos were somewhat blurry. I have gotten rusty! 🥲

Fun story, I actually caught 5 individuals. Wonder which one made the cover. 😄 One has a radio-transmitter attached to them for telemetry purposes.

Sadly, even after applying the discounts through the university, the fee is still pretty high. 😪

I have mistaken Treefrog trilling for bird sounds sometime back. It was broad daylight so I was confused. 😕
