"I want to return to the EU, I am European"

All those Telegraph and Times editorials on what we can learn from this about the risks associated with fossil fuel plants will be surely be along any minute now?

#FoodSecurity - a huge issue for our age, and the concentration of production of many products an unsustainable position www.yahoo.com/news/supply-...

❗ 1 in 6 people referred to food banks in our community are carers. When you're looking after a loved one, you should NEVER have to worry about whether you can afford food and essentials. Our social security system should be there to provide support to carers. 💚 #CarersWeek

Lib Dems now have 72 MPs. Reform have 5. Tories have 121 as official opposition. There’s been a Westminster spending review - so which opposition party gets to be on the entire @itvpeston.bsky.social? Yeah u guessed it - Richard Tice. We Demand plurality now petition.parliament.uk/petitions/71...

Interesting article providing stretch and challenge for #ClimateInEducation. TLDR: we don't know when, or even if, the AMOC will collapse but if it does we won't be growing vineyards in the UK, we'll be building igloos 🧊🏠 www.carbonbrief.org/ocean-curren...

What an amazing story. Watch this.

#BBCPoliticsLive guest just now used one of those dreadful phrases "GenZee". Argh! What the (insert expletive) does that mean? Why can't we use the much clearer expressions such as "20 somethings" or "teen-agers" or "30 year-olds" etc? The latter are much clearer, whereas "GenX" etc are obscure.

Letter to Europe: You're stronger than you think. Act like it. "Europe needs to overcome its learned helplessness and act like the great power it is — especially given America’s apparent determination to destroy the pillars of its own strength." paulkrugman.substack.com/p/a-letter-t...

You couldn’t make it up - this is the same government that promised to deliver significant nature recovery - yet once again they’re slashing key nature funding & massively undermining farmers in the process. Madness

Extremely powerful from @natashadevon.bsky.social. In the UK, far more women are joining the Green party than men are joining Reform. Yet the media narrative is that it is Reform that is ascendant.

BBC Breakfast is once again using the term "typical energy bill" in covering prices. How many times must we point out, this is (almost) useless! Announce the UNIT PRICE cap, so we can work out what it means for each of us on our own bills! #bbcbreakfast

OMG @bbc Breakfast banging on and on for what seems like hours this morning about a football match. Minutes that seem like hours droning on about how hard it's been for fans to get to Bilbao. Newsflash: I DON'T CARE. This isn't that important and it's not headline world news.

The UK is one of the wealthiest countries in history. But that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, where it's used to buy yachts and private jets instead of building up public services. A 1% wealth tax on net assets over £10 million could raise £10 billion a year.
