Ah very fair point!!

That’s your preference, isn’t it? I’d take Alvarez as my first choice.

Certainly, it just wouldn’t surprise me if his transfer fee was around that mark, perhaps with add ons on top.

I think we’re lucky that we’re not caught in a loan to buy situation with him

The Bayer Leverkusen fans shout “Fussballgott!” when his name is announced. I reckon you can guess what that means.

Yeah, Klopp was too sentimental with too many players.

What strikes me about Wirtz is that not only is he top % for progressive passes, but also carries and progressive receiving. Everything he does makes the team progress up the pitch.

Can’t find it. It showed how Szobo and Macca came into half spaces with Grav in the back line, creating triangles to outnumber the opposition press. Then Wirtz would be second phase to link with full backs. He’s very good at transition. I think we’ll use more running pace off the ball.

I watched a fascinating video last week which showed how we might build from the back with Gravenberch dropping into the back line and the full backs going really high. I’ll try and dig it out.

The less said about the flamethrowers and grenades the better. Some scenes are wonderfully choreographed. Others just get stupid.

…trained assassins struggle to kill one person, especially one that gets absolutely ragged all over the place at times but only once gets knocked out.

Ha! Oh nice one.

My guess is that it'll be a lower basic with many performance related add ons. That's possibly as high as Salah and VVD already and he's not kicked a ball yet. Thanks for the insights though - loving your work.

I'd love his job and I think I'd be dead good at it but unfortunately I fell into something completely different :D

I’m not someone that tends to suffer with a lack of confidence but as I get ready to fly out to the States to see my highest value client for a week, it’s pretty cool knowing that I will have an even bigger client waiting to start implementation when I get home.

Alvarez, Isak or Ekitike. I think we rate Alvarez highest but Isak not far off. Ekitike feels like a compromise.

It's worth pointing out that Chelsea paid £115M for Caicedo. He's a great player but I'm not convinced he is transformational like Wirtz has the potential to be. They just about got CL football and I don't think Caicedo has made them step up a gear. We have made Gravenberch fantastic.

£20m a year for 5 years is decent. If we end up paying the add ons, we won’t care because he’ll have been a success, & we’ll have trophies in the cabinet. Very much worth the negotiations.

I think some of the add ons will be: LFC winning the league LFC winning the CL Wirtz winning Balon D’or Could even require multiple title victories
