For Memorial Day and upcoming Father's Day. At age 5 I responded to my buddy's bragging on his father. I said "My Dad can do anything; he can even straighten nails!" Something daddy did that impress the hell out of me.

Yeah, Hephaestion was 'best friend' or 'a close friend', so not a reprise of Achilles' words for Patroclus, "φιλτάτος" then. Maybe just roommates. Needn't ship them as lovers but a better descriptor than the two phrases chosen in the blurb might be in order.

The irony! Wanted to signal my niece. As I attempted to make the crossed thumb/forefinger sign for love, my hands ached from age & working on the truck this morning. Hit me that it is a metaphor for how I feel about love at this stage of life; the ache is not in my hands though. Somewhere else. .

Today. Bob Dylan’s birthday. When they closed on the hour-long program on Public Radio with “The Times Are A’Changing” the descriptor that sprang to mind, given the current political climate, was “Bittersweet” but only a moment’s reflection transmuted that simply to “Bitter”.
