Time for a New New Deal!

This is why people across the country need to remain engaged and not give up in the face of oppression

OMG this reading of Shakespeare is 💯 how he meant it to be delivered!!

I don't often wish-cast illustrators, but I always wish we'd seen George Smiley drawn by Robert Fawcett. He drew the 20th century's best Holmes & Poirot. His gift for character and subtle tension, along with his eye for the minutiae of clothing and setting would've made him perfect on Smiley.

Don’t Fall For Elon Inc.’s Press Campaign talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/dont-...

As I note here, really zero reason to believe Elon is stepping away from anything. This is all a crisis comms campaign. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/dont-...

I know it ain't over, and a lot of damage was done, and little is fixed. But if you had told me ahead of Indivisible's "Musk or Us" town halls in February and March that this would be the headline in May, I would have described this as a wild success.

RTing an EPIC comics history thread by our late studiomate Jesse Hamm. Jesse, an artist and educator. This was one of Jesse's best & it shouldn't be left to languish on twitter. It's long though, so if not interested, mute #hammthread.

The Court’s ‘Make It Up As You Go’ Constitution talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/the-c...

I highly recommend this book for artists & hobbyists. My drawing has always focused on indoor study, but this book talks about using your sketchpad as a passport to new people, places, & adventures. I’m planning my summer (& fall) around it! #drawing #sketching

If anything is to come of this, you’d want clear language from Schumer and Jeffries *now*: Dems won’t vote for any legislation this Congress that includes a provision to waive paygo. They will let the Republican Medicare cuts go into effect if Republicans pass their tax cuts.

The 80-year recipe stoking America’s Prosperity: 1) Free-market capital investments in brilliant ideas… 2) enabled by Engineering Innovations… 3) based on Science Research in Universities… 4) funded by Grants from the US Government. It’s time more people understood this.

These are the folks we need to hear more from, now.

Yes it's Star Wars, but that's almost incidental. Andor is the best popular fictional portrayal of resistance to fascism I've seen. It tells us that authoritarians are fundamentally weak and that courage is contagious. Give it a few episodes. contrarian.substack.com/p/andor-is-n...

The Constitution Shouldn’t Have to Wait talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/the-c...

Finished #Andor last night, & I’m surprised & relieved that the pop culture distraction of my youth has evolved into preserving the experience of the WWII generation who are no longer around to remind us of the consequences of fascism.

I know some of you may do this anyway, but I nonetheless urge you NOT to send items like these to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, 601 D St. NW, Washington, DC 20530. Please do NOT do that. Thank you.

Hey! Press covering Trump! The statute that lets him impose tariffs at will? It EXPLICITLY excludes movies. He has no authority to do this. Not just bc of an absence of authorization, but bc the law says “you CANNOT do this.” Do NOT say “Trump has imposed movie tariffs,” bc he did not. He CANNOT.

Into the Wilds of Democratic Navel-Gazing and Big Think talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/into-...

For folks saying,"Ignore the Pope thing! He wants to offend you! Don't you get it!" I have this rule I follow. I say what I think. I don't get into second order head games in which I think I'm outwitting someone else by strategically not saying what I think. Perhaps Im simple. But that's how I roll.

You receive a call on your phone. The caller says they're from your bank and they're calling about a suspected fraudulent payment. "Oh yeah," you think. Obvious scam, right? The caller says "I'll send you an in-app notification to prove I'm calling from your bank." 🧵 1/4

So much this… They want all the rewards, without any of the work that goes into learning how to create the thing or even being curious about WHY the thing is good and people love it. It’s a complete ignorance about WHY we have created and WHY humans need the arts. www.patreon.com/posts/127674...
