Couldn't make it that far, sorry. 11 seconds was all I could take.

Sounds plausible, and we're all inclined to believe this, but if you're going to make claims about things that aren't widely known, you need to provide sources. Propaganda that supports our world view is still propaganda. We need to be better than that.

So glad I don't have to deal with this kind of shit. But it reminds me of a time before cell phones when a woman gave me her number on a tiny scrap of paper... "It's a test... I made it really small, if you're really interested you won't lose it". "Ok, here's mine... I made it really big so if you

I would eat it in a boat, I would eat it with a goat... I would eat it on a train, I would eat it in the rain...

🙄 Take a science class.

Nuclear gets a bad rap. But it's always on whether or not the wind is blowing or the sun is shining, is carbon-free, safe (far fewer deaths than oil, gas or coal) and more energy-dense than any other fuel.

This isn't synthesized. It's cultured living cells.

Not a problem if you have them as tea, and not eat the solids. Psylocibin is water-soluble. The pukey stuff is in the solids.

It's freaking beanie babies all over again. Some ppl never learn.
comment in response to post
Oh hell yeah. Can it be co-ed? And child free... mushrooms and vomit are a bad combination (which is why you should have them in tea).

Fucking Texas. So backward. Scopes Monkey Trial should have settled this for good.
comment in response to post
I was being facetious. :P That said, I've lived in cities all my adult life but have never known of anyone doing high tea. Outside of England, I imagine it's pretty much a women's thing.
comment in response to post
What I don't get is they say she was "enjoying high tea" with friends. At first I thought this must be in England, but it's Texas. I'm not entirely sure what "high tea" is, but I don't think they do that in Texas, unless it's mushroom tea, which wouldn't be legal. :P

Where? Even the ID stuff has been shot down by courts in decades past.
comment in response to post
Where are they teaching creationism in public schools? That's illegal.
comment in response to post
Is that actually happening? As far as I know that's been illegal for a long time now. Do you know of actual instances? If that's going on, the ACLU should be on it. It's blatantly unconstitutional.

What % of their sales are books, though? I'd guess it's pretty small. They sell everything.

Imagine them playing *together*

I think it's quaint to think of Amazon as a book seller, or even primarily a book seller. I get my books from the library. My wife's a librarian, she'd kill me if I bought books. :P

I guess the residuals from Howl were enough to buy groceries but not enough to afford a mirror. :D

That poster is badass. The portrait with the ears looks like it may be from the same artist that made Fantastic Planet (1973 animation film). I don't think it is, but it's a similar aesthetic.

What bullshit!

The enemy here is the Islamic Republic of Iran, not the people of Iran. Radiation does not distinguish. Even just from a purely strategic rather than humanitarian perspective, it would be counterproductive.
comment in response to post
They could bomb the centrifuges, but they can't bomb highly enriched uranium without causing a radiation disaster.
comment in response to post
I could imagine a group of Luigi fans dressing up the same way and abducting insurance co. CEOs or the like. This kind of thing would have to stop. I'm not advocating for that, just saying I could see that happening.

Too bad we're so far away. It would be fun to collaborate. LMK if you're ever going to be in the Baltimore area.

This track is in 9 tone equal temperament (aka 9edo). The Xs and Os in the title (and titles of the other tracks) tell you which members of the tuning were included or omitted in the piece.
comment in response to post
This was all improvised, one track at a time, starting with the tuned percussion and the strings coming last. So less planned out than the work you posted, in this instance. The album was heavily influenced by Morton Feldman's approach to time, and was recorded entirely during my baby's naps. 14 now

Most people, even in the press, know little to nothing about the uranium fuel cycle, from mining to milling to conversion through enrichment.
comment in response to post
No, the point was to destroy the centrifuges used to enrich uranium, and the facilities to convert U3O8 to UF6. Imagine what would happen if they directly bombed 900lbs of enriched uranium. It would be a radiation catastrophe throughout the region with probable world-wide effects.

Up until the electronics kick in, this could be a bonus track on Roy Harper's 1984. :D
comment in response to post
I've been seeing a lot fewer artists in my feed, and that's really disappointing. Maybe someone can screenshot this and post it, so my artist friends who subscribe to that list can unblock me? I'm tempted to just walk away from bluesky. This is so petty.

This is really good. European jazz so often gets ignored or dismissed.

Are you a scientist? I'd expect they always need more people at the base in Antarctica.

Got used to that too, mostly. Had no choice.

We're nearly opposites. I don't love the heat though. Give me a nice spring or fall day, not too hot, not too cold. Unfortunately we don't get much of either anymore. It pretty much goes straight from winter to summer and back. Our boiler broke toward the end of winter-we had no heat. That was bad.

I'm against this, but it's more than a stretch to say this is the same thing. If shop-owners refuse to carry Israeli goods, and advertise that fact, it sucks but it's within their rights to do so. A true parallel would be if people were vandalizing shops that carry Israeli goods or are Jewish-owned.
comment in response to post
Definitely enjoyed that poster as a teen...
comment in response to post
Do you tolerate cold well? You might consider moving somewhere with a cooler climate.

I mainly know him from the interviews he did with Joseph Campbell. LBJ was before I was born, and I'm old. The guy just died, weird time to be holding a grudge.
comment in response to post
What I meant was, "one gets used to it" but that seemed overly formal. In any event *I* get used to it, mostly.
comment in response to post
It's 89 in my house right now. We only have and use AC in the bedrooms, at night. It's humid, too. You get used to it, but it does make it harder to get much done.
