In related news, I am so not used to standing for a three-hour shift at anything anymore, but I am excellent at getting things from high shelves and carrying bins of potatoes for the other, (mostly) old lady volunteers.

If you're only following this "debate" through popular media you probably have the impression that studies on youth gender medicine are roughly split between benefits and harms. Nope! Nearly every study finds benefits. The "debate" is just a bunch of people going, "Those don't count."

The publisher has cut their costs by outsourcing to this company, the company has cut their costs by using AI/low-paid staff instead of paying for a proper job, while I’ve spent hours & hours fixing the manuscript, so all the extra labour from cost-costing has fallen on me, the unremunerated author

One of my small-town Ontario grandmas hoarded Country Life magazines because I'm pretty sure she thought she was somehow related to the British gentry/nobility* and needed to keep up on property values in the Cotswolds from her 1950s bungalow in the Ottawa Valley.
