It's very simple. You have to arrest and prosecute the people in the previous administration who broke the law because if you don't there's nothing to keep them from coming back and doing it again. You have to make them afraid of doing it now.

The ceasefire did not happen immediately after Hamas attacked israel. There is no reason to think it would.

They can help negotiate a ceasefire without leveraging israel. Biden wanted the hostages returned, which is how Hamas could have gotten a ceasefire.
The ceasefire happened before trump got into office. Then it ended again.
