Except “Yojimbo” was Kurosawa adapting the Dashiell Hammett novel “Red Harvest” as a samurai movie, so the cultural exchange went both ways on that one. (Walter Hill’s “Last Man Standing” is in the time period of the original novel, but is based on Yojimbo.)
