Really impressed by Mike Shea’s City of Arches—depending on the scope of your project, could be worth pinging @slyflourish.com

If you have an iPhone, you can hold the volume-up button and the side button until the SOS screen appears. After that, your iPhone won’t let you unlock with biometrics until you enter your pin again.

I think there’s also something useful about dice when playing with people you’re less familiar with. As a GM-for-hire, my players usually don’t know me. I don’t have the luxury of their trust, and they don’t have the luxury of mine—but all of us can trust the story the dice tell.

In my games, dice are used to heighten the excitement—I’ve never been in a game where dice are used for everything. You’re using dice as punctuation.
But also, the goal isn’t to tell a story—the goal is fun and connection. The method is group story telling.

For a lot of us, there’s fun and joy and creativity in trying to figure out how to honor the dice roll within the narrative. The dice rolls are just prompts. That, and risk is thrilling.

My therapist asked me to think of a time where I’ve been in the top circle of this chart, and I was like, “I think I’m perpetually bouncing between the left circle and the right circle.” static.wixstatic.com/media/35294a...

I felt so much more fulfilled as a DM helping bring THEIR ideas to life in the game.
What tips and strategies do you have for handing the reins over to your players? Tell me about the times you’ve given up control to your players and how it went!
