This is the main image Friends of Spruce and Pine has on their homepage: a car turning into a bike lane (that is filled with vehicles thanks to the illegal loading) while a child on a bike tries to cross the street. They are suing the city for adding loading zones and improving bike safety.

Yeah this was my first thought on hearing the news that he picked the name Leo.

If Philly had just door dashers on bikes at the same rate as SF, it would remove more than 1 million vehicle miles from our streets per month. The costs in extra traffic delays and increased road maintenance are easily in the tens of millions. www.axios.com/local/philad...

"I’m still a Bernie fan, even though I openly mock AOC and Elizabeth Warren for subscribing to 90 percent of the same policies, for reasons, I assure you, I will never ask myself a single hard question about, because I’m not bound by your restrictive mental framework."

No, it's not hard to go out and buy native seed packs... after you research what's native (actually native, not just commonly found after being introduced), what's easy to grow (no cold stratification required), find a shop with your local ecotype, etc. This project has done that work for you! 🙌

"Say the city council decides to cut the budget & only pay for “direct” costs for fighting a fire. They’ll pay for the water in the hose, but not the gas in the truck. They’ll pay the salaries for the firemen, but not for the dispatcher who tells them where to go." Indirect cost cuts end research. 👇

Alright the Science Library is live 🫡

A teacher emailed me & said "My scientist didn't reply to me. My scientists ALWAYS reply to me! What the heck!". I was like "Well. Science is kinda crumbling. Friends/colleagues are losing their jobs or at least funding, & some are being told to cease all outside communications". She hadn't heard.

I’m at Philadelphia City Hall asking the mayor to allocate $5M to Vision Zero to prevent traffic related fatalities

If I recently followed you, it might be from the KJ Charles Discord starter pack. Hi!

We need plans for the east Market St corridor to now build upon what already makes Center City and Chinatown such special places to live, work, and visit: a transit-accessible, human-centered neighborhood with mixed-use buildings, street-fronted retail and dense housing. 1/

Daniel Penny acquitted after literally killing someone on camera for being disruptive on the train the same day a person of interest in the shooting of a shitbag healthcare exec gets grabbed pretty succinctly sums up who in this country is allowed to kill and who they’re allowed to kill.
