Yep. Deliberate, intended and unprompted assault. And she’d been there for hours, reporting for hours, peacefully, for hours.
And he’s had training?
He shouldn’t ever be allowed to touch any gun again.

Wait - You have the Location thing in the corner… I’ve always thought it was pointless (& v annoying to click through). How do you use it? Why do you like?
Just a very random curiosity aside! 😂
(Yey! Go Gail & bravo Stephen!)

She was working for BBC too. On their iPlayer coverage.
I would hope the UK would like a word!

Throwing fireworks - explosives - from an otherwise peaceful protest in attack and not defence should be prosecuted too.

I get where you’re coming from, I just disagree. I didn’t think it was hype but important context and analysis both of the work and it’s relevance to the current political and journalistic climate in US.
Censorship and threats to the free press by the state are signs of a collapsing democracy.

One of those police officers just punched a woman in the back violently live on the BBC.
He should be removed from duty immediately and prosecuted for assault.
Great power should come with at least a tiny bit of f’ing responsibility!

Hello. I live in Scotland. We can see that with our own eyes.
The fact that every single journalist doesn’t state that obvious and factual rebuttal every time they repeat his statement is a damning indictment of the state of news coverage & a significant reason for the state of things.

Curious how protest works in LA - isn’t it famously difficult to get anywhere without driving? How does that work for protests? Where do people park?
Apologies for my ignorance and boring practicality wondering.
Well done everyone for standing up for what is right.
Policing must be by consent!

Are the black uniforms LAPD?
I thought the “sanctuary city” thing meant they wouldn’t support ICE work, only deal with (actual?) criminality.
The BBC have broadcast Trump’s tarmac speech about 10 times so far and at no point challenged his claims with any facts or legal context. #ICEProtests

As a European I can’t believe the airport of that size didn’t have a rail connection. Insane!
Travel so much better & easier when you know you can just hop on train at the other end without thinking or booking anything in advance. Also trains usually better for a range of disabilities (&luggage)

Yes. Both he and Clark Gregg switching from their characters’ “on” broadcasting personas, to still compelling “off” behaviour - all while they themselves are still commanding a Broadway stage and mastering subtlety for stage cameras and home broadcast… 🤯

They evade that and their rates are too low to start with. No one needs luxury yachts or private rockets and private submarines when people are sick, homeless and starving.
They profit from millions of people’s labour and fail to contribute to the social infrastructure of society.

I disagree. The conversation they were having is without doubt one of the most important conversations of our times. To have it live on a news channel in this moment and climate after that play was an excellent choice. 24 hour instant on the ground reporting isn’t the only journalism we need.

Very glad I managed to stay up for this and watch in Scotland.
Actually incredible to watch in this format at this moment in time. The convergence of art and journalism on so many levels.
Moved to tears several times.
Well done to all involved.
Tell the truth. AND take a stand. #GNGL

I’ve been so looking forward to this. Desperately trying to stay awake. However despite being knocked out until 4pm & keeping my meds to the lowest I can stand I don’t think I can manage 😞 Setting 50 alarms.

From a “What If” issue published in 1984.
The real Captain America isn’t found and revived until 1984. More than a decade after an ultranationalistic substitute has convinced the majority of Americans to accept authoritarian rule.
Cap’s warning at the end was chillingly prescient.

I’m going to - I keep having breaks, & not reading all in one go - I just need to finish this one.
Incapable of not doing so. Just rage making notes as a rant release as I go 😂

Yep - Danish & really successful in Denmark. Think they’ve made 5. Good adaptations - the messed up plot, good casting & pacing. Though apparently for the next one all going to be re-cast etc as Jussi Adler Olsen thinks they’ve strayed too far from his material. (I think that’s a good thing).

I’ve seen one of the films, and they seem to have ironed that out and made Morck gruff and hurt but less hateful. And Assad is not treated as an alien “exotic” sidekick punching bag - but an actual partner.
I still want to see the series, so I’m obviously into something. Or just a completionist!

For me, no. It just feels like the author is xenophobic and misogynistic and that leaks through and is pervasive.
It’s like passive aggressive micro aggressions in prose.
Morck treating Assad & Rose like crap when they do all the work. I’m in pain & angry all the time atm so that not helping 😂

I started reading via this production. I’m struggling with the racism & sexism & hating the main character. Some messed up criminals and engaging plot though.

Seconded. I read it a few years ago, and even with a terrible memory and a lot of painkillers I can still vividly feel being there.
