Been hearing people say "I don't shit where I eat" in reference to not dating coworkers, and I'm curious to know, between dating and work, which one they see as eating, and which one is shitting.1

This is obviously richly deserved, cathartic, and funny, but also wow, he's completely normalized weaponizing his office to punish his personal enemies to the point where this barely registers as corrupt anymore.

This is all terrible news for dogecoin.

If they keep blaming "Trump Derangement Syndrome" for people not liking him, they should really have reckon with whether it's a good idea to have a leader who causes people to become irrationally deranged en-masse.

I think that people who say that Elon Musk rigged the election by hacking voting machines are doing propaganda for him by insinuating that he would know how to do that.

being intimidated by bluesky is so funny. yeah i keep getting my ass kicked every time i go to bath and body works

mdf is the hot dog of wood

Moby Dick is about toxic masculinity (Ahab. Violent. Domineering. Hateful) vs. non-toxic masculinity (Ishmael. Affectionate. Open-minded. Able to have a mature conversation about sperm.)

People act as if Father's Day is a made up greeting card holiday, but actually it's very important for dads whose birthdays fall outside of baseball season.

You just know that Elon Musk has tried having Grok hit by lightning to see if it develops free will.

I'm going to guess it is because they are elderly.

Getting emotional wishing Chris Farley had lived so we could see how he’d react to having his hand put in the Bene Gesserit pain box.

it should put every single person you follow's pinned posts at the top of your all your feeds and you have to scroll past them to get to the current stuff.

I may be misremembering, so forgive me if I've forgotten some huge thematic moment, but I feel like the longer Stranger Things runs, the more obvious it becomes that it has nothing to say.

One thing about my teenage years that I will never regret is just generally calling all electronic music "techno."

Saw perhaps the worst take of my life today. Why on earth in the age of oversaturation with TV shows with seasons that are like the world's most padded-out movie would you want to infect a beloved episodic sitcom with continuity?

I feel like there must be thousands of unpublished novels out there that would be game changing if they ever saw the light of day. Far more so than with other media.

Would be really weird to watch the live action Ghost in the Shell now. I assume it basically stopped existing about a year after it came out.

When I learned how to write comics I started with bad imitations of comics I liked, then decent mimickry, then synthesis, then finally experimentation. And I think that I'm having trouble figuring out how to write prose because I'm trying to just skip past imitation.

Stalled out on reading Moby Dick about fifteen years ago. Giving it another shot now and it's really good.

*a group of bullies is beating up a smaller kid* Wisest Bully: Stop! Don't kick his ass! Don't you know he's a nerd??? Don't signal-boost his dorky haircut and braces! *bullies continue beating* Wisest Bully: This is what the nerds want! Stop! You're platforming him!!!

Might finally be time to check out Lilo and Stitch now that there's a new improved version where they got rid of the thick thighs.
