That’s an interesting take on predestination… they should check their theological lessons, because that’s not what it is.

But I also hate that the “best practice” to make these tools work better are all the things that human users need but never get. And we now do it because the computer needs it. *RAGE!*

It’s not a tech problem to solve. It’s a governance issue - just like the self-serve problems of old. E.g., setting up a genie room is easy, setting it up for success requires a lot of effort and most people don’t want to do the effort.

To paraphrase: if you’re not guided by purpose, you will end up doing or contributing to something terrible. Religious people can act without faith (numerous examples even within the Catholic Church). Non-religious people can act with faith (numerous examples of this too).

Faith =/= religion. You can have faith in humanity, God(s), or something else entirely. But… “A lack of faith is often tragically accompanied by the loss of meaning in life… and so many other wounds that afflict our society.”

It took 3 of us in our group of 5 to have breakdowns for us to talk deep (and not shit) with each other. I wish we had been more open sooner, but hey ho.
