This Raptors fan could not be more happy for him. Well deserved 🙌

This is my hope. Assuming the current government can do what is necessary to strengthen the economy, a strong, national NDP resurgence with him at the helm would be an excellent next chapter.

Yessss Alberta! You can do this!! 💪

Me too. The work he's done on this portfolio in such a short time made me really enthusiastic about his vision and his skill. I'm disappointed, but still hopeful that Carney recognizes his strengths and will employ them in some meaningful way.

This is exactly what I think and, from that perspective, it makes sense. Though I do think Nate is curious and collaborative enough to have worked well through this type of complexity.

This Canadian is keeping all of you in her thoughts. The sense of dread I carried for months is just now starting to subside. I feel your anxiety.

You've hit on something that really frightens me. There's a cult of personality thing with PP (I can't possibly understand it, but I know it exists). We are not fully free from what's taken root in the US.

Amen to making this a priority. I'm going to need left leaning parties to battle back hard, and stop letting the alt-right media create the narrative .

They are indeed.

I heard an eyewitness say there were barriers up all day, but the event was ending and they were beginning to tear down. He said they had just opened barriers to allow cars through. So incredibly tragic.

This is a good point. You're absolutely right.

I hadn't been paying close attention to the quality of reporting done by the MSM, and so I generally scoffed when I heard blanket criticism of it. Now that I'm paying close attention, I am genuinely horrified. Even the CBC has become click-bait oriented. It's gross.

This is what I love about the Canadian electorate- country over party still exists here. I'm worried that quality is increasingly under threat, so it's reassuring to read posts like yours.

I realized while watching this that one of my favourite things about PM Carney is his tendency to take a long pause before answering a question. He thinks about what is being asked, because he is genuinely listening and he wants to offer a thoughtful & truthful reply. Such a rare quality.

I found Milligan's thread to be useful for looking at the platform in a nuanced way. bsky.app/profile/kevi...

Ugh. 'He's been saying the same things since university' is not the compliment his buddies think it is. Rigidly dogmatic and stubbornly inflexible are not the qualities of a good leader.

There's so much to despise about Conservative shenanigans, but this was meant to challenge FPTP. Much like Trudeau, I wish his government had been able to move forward with reform. In part because I hate that visually-impaired voters now have to navigate this type of protest ballot...

It absolutely resonates! I have 2 amazing kids with autism- both were diagnosed as young teens. Each of them exhibited a very different combination of these signs.

That's where the emphasis on modular homes helps. I worked in that industry and agree that they reduce costs in many areas, including manufacturing, less material waste and lower labour costs. Combined with the reduction of red tap (i.e. pre-approved architectural plans) it increases affordability.

I think it's his Order of Canada pin.

Thanks so much for this email address. I sent a scathing email. It was nice to have somewhere to direct my rage!

Not better than what we have: better than the sorts of values that have led America astray. And if you think we're immune, there's a populist party riding close in the election poles that disagrees.

I did not detect an ounce of condescension in his post. It's a plea not to follow the same path his own country did, well meaning and sincere. We have to distinguish between the Americans who want better for us, and those who think they can own us. He's the former.

Thank you for this.

I'm inclined to agree, but it would further jeopardize the auto industry as it exists in Ontario. I think, to ensure those plants stay committed to Canada, it will have to be a slow and thoughtful approach to lifting the tariffs on Chinese EVs. If they were to commit to 1000s of jobs here? win-win

I have a great deal of thanks, and respect, for those of you Americans who show care and concern about Trump's plans for Canada. You have your own burdens with him, so the gracious encouragement you offer is much appreciated ❤️

I've been following our election coverage closely, and I can say with certainty that it is. It really, really is.
