Linux source code is actually hosted on kernel.org, it's a federated instance
comment in response to
post
those are federated and have an inherent risk of failure. once an instance is shut down all your repos are gone. happened before with fedi instances and all your content dissapearing.
the only solution is peering repos, which is what radicle is doing

I used it against TS Start yes, but the preset is not related to TS
comment in response to

there's radicle.xyz
is this something what you're looking for? not sure what "controlled by a network" means

switching to official unenv preset by cloudflare worked

I don't think he called you lazy, he meant that the option of not doing it is lazy
either way that PR conversation was weird and both should have just moved on
not all wins are significant either, so it's better to spend time on larger impact shifts imo

Biome Beta supports plugins so should be doable
comment in response to
post
he probably means nonstandard npm fields like "browser" and "module" which specific bundlers read, but Node.js doesn't care about those
comment in response to
post
no it doesn't do that, it assembles a CAR locally and then uploads it Storacha and pins elsewhere

what's that?

with Blumen you can deploy on all IPFS providers that exist right now:

I meant it's easy to misconfigure Kubo and end up exposing the whole internal api lol
comment in response to
post
do you have other examples of people building small utils for IPFS? I haven't seen that many besides IPCM by @stevedylan.dev
comment in response to
post
by the way, have you seen Blumen?
I guess it's also a micro tool in a way, kind of like ipfs-deploy on steroids

I don't know much about external efforts but service worker gateways by ipfs shipyard is a huge move towards dweb

Setting up Kubo as a self hostable website hosting tool. Not as a gateway but to upload *.car websites into Kubo over an endpoint, similar to uploading a CAR file to e.g. Storacha
I know this is possible with Kubo, but you have to figure it out on your own and the surface of error is really huge
comment in response to
post
another solution would perhaps be better documentation on how to configure Kubo for website hosting, which is quite a common use case for people who prefer to self host but also want to benefit from content addressing
comment in response to
post
makes it easier to deploy websited, whereas with Kubo you gotta be careful with how you expose RPC endpoints, and have to configure api tokens manually and so fourth
I'm also not sure how to set upload limits on Kubo

so I'll just hope for when/if everyone's happy with the undici APIs

it is kind of an issue for when a third party library uses global namespace fetch and you want it to have a custom Agent
that's where I've been facing the need to be able to set a global dispatcher
globally patching fetch is okay most of the time but not always
comment in response to
post
will Node.js fetch ever expose a global dispatcher?

*ease of use when it comes centralized storage
comment in response to
post
I suppose ease of use and lack of good consumer products. There's Fileverse and AnyType but there needs to be apps more like that.
the decentralized storage provider ecosystem itself is also not that large yet. IPFS has Storacha, Filebase, Piñata and kind of that's it
