I was also specifically thinking of a Chapter 8 (the last one before the letters) confrontation when iirc Gabriel is convinced Hyde murdered Jekyll and Hyde is just pretty desperate at that point. So many ways this could play out.

Yes, Utterson knowing the truth and trying to talk to Hyde would be good too!! I have a feeling that if he knew, he would still care about his best friend, just be shocked and conflicted.

I was like "YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELF?? ON PURPOSE??". I'm not saying the stories where it's an accident are bad!! but this was something new for me and something that can add extra feeling of guilt to the character. I like imagining

I DID. The ending was still a twist for me bc I knew they were the same person but for some reason I assumed it was an accident? (because I've seen other stories where a character turns into something bad after an event that wasn't their fault) and after the last chapter

Yeah, confusion would be fully understandable here! I guess I like adding tragedy/horror to the story because I keep thinking this would be a really devastating event for him. Like 2/3 of his friends are dead. Because of the very person he tried to save. I like thinking they used to be
