TONIGHT: #ICEOUT Protest in San Francisco

If Trump was successful at getting US companies to eat the cost of tariffs and not raise prices on consumer goods, wouldn't this be an increase in corporate taxes? If that actually happened, as progressives, shouldn't we be on board? Ignore the practicalities of ensuring prices did not increase.

While I am inherently skeptical of this administration's motives, the news yesterday that Trump is advocating for tax increases on the very rich ($2.5M in income) is a good step. It's a small step, as it only moves that bracket from 37% to 39.6%, but it's a good step.

Who's going to tell Josh the president doesn't actually care about working people? www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/u...

Given Trump's power comes from being the center of attention, what if we just, like, turned off the news and didn't give him any?

All of a sudden I find myself pining for a parliamentary democracy.

Let's say you are someone who has "sausage fingers." Any federal programs to help retrain these chubs to handle tiny screws?

the vice president of the united states follows this guy on twitter!

This platform feels like a liberal echo chamber. Who should I follow to be provoked?

Is it possible there is no kleptocratic master plan and that these guys are just spectacularly inept?

Same cash grab playbook as DOGE in DC. www.sfgate.com/tech/article...

Microcosm matches the microcosm. The top gets more and the bottom get unemployment. It is just such an obvious transfer of company wealth. Companies usually wait a bit between a RIFs and big bonuses. www.sfgate.com/tech/article...

If you're wondering why Trump is pivoting toward Russia, it's as simple as this: there is money to be made by lifting sanctions and rebuilding their economy. It's the same rationale as everything else.

Did anyone else already know that before Teddy Roosevelt the civil service was staffed by the President's friends and family in a system called the "spoils system?" It was, withhold your surprise, wildly inefficient and corrupt. Mayhap this is what MAGA is going for.
