There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Sometimes I write about the tinned fish I bring to work for lunch.
I have a headache.

Currently, there are more than 300 deaths from Covid in the US every week. This will only worsen things.

Really sad and pathetic that an actor/comedian from Canada has to explain to American news pundits just how important airline safety is.

I realize you're just yes, and-ing the bit here, but this seriously makes me think of my ex-partner who subsisted himself on a daily diet of Dunkin' iced mochas, pizza bites, and Pepcid AC, and didn't understand why his chronic acid reflux wouldn't improve.
Just...stop eating garbage, you dorks.

This is the same guy who yesterday said smugly to a bunch of medical professionals "I've never met a poor person who created jobs".
FRJ. I'll happily support the campaign of whomever would work to unseat him.

I bet Mountain Dew Bauhaus Blast tastes like a Berlin nightclub.

Yes, but he's lived in Oregon long enough that he's basically an Oregonian now.

You know what else weakens bone density? Pregnancy.

I don't understand what you mean about products made to help women making them weaker. That simply isn't true. Period products and birth control have opened enormous doors for women - access to education, the equalizer of the modern world, being chief among them.

When people talk about chik fil a they talk about the sweet tea and the sauce. On its own, the chicken is weirdly sweet but otherwise flavorless.
When someone says they like it, I immediately question their taste in food.

I'm sure that person has muted the thread by now, but I thank you for your consideration and conversation. Take care of yourself and be good to those around you. ✌️

Eating disorders. Anorexia, Bulimia, "fit" girls ranting about how much they hate eating food, etc.
I'm in my 30s and I've gotten good at recognizing that kind of content when I see it. It makes my blood boil to see others encourage it, because it's a symptom of the "manosphere" in action.

Fascism and toxic masculinity go hand in hand, and it shows in how women present themselves in the conten pushed on us by algorithms.
In the early 10s we were told to build strength. In the mid-late 10s it was about being thick in all the right places. Now? ED Content. Tons of it.

Oh. I don't actually have children. Between the cost of raising them, the behavior of men in my age group toward women and the world around them, the destruction of the education department, and the fascism popping up all around us? I don't think I could have a child in good conscience.

I'm looking forward to tucking my children into bed at night with asbestos-riddled fabrics. We'll need them to protect us from the industrial fires.

To that point, I think GamerGate was the beginning of that proliferation bubbling up into the general public eye after decades of dormancy, like a swarm of cicadas rising up after years of hibernation.

I understand where someone might get this take from, but I find it a little bit misguided on the standing that a lot of far-right groups from the early-mid 90s onward have proliferated in online spaces. You never saw these people holding rallies because their rallies were on IRC and message boards.

Not only that, but the 35-55 set is angry that their lives don't look like Don Draper's while blatantly ignoring how that lifestyle the character displayed is an absolutely miserable one for everyone involved.
Stop pining for an era that was only great if you were a wealthy white man, you idiots!

So cops can get affordable childcare, but the rest of us have to choose between all of one parent's income going toward it, or whomever makes less (statistically that would most likely be the mother) just stays home to take care of the kid and loses out on income potential.

Thanks for sharing a headline source! It's great that it's everywhere, but you should still post links to the reading materials and not just screenshots of headlines or image macros. It helps a lot when folks are trying to parse out the facts.

I trained to be a wrestler (long story for another time) and my coach, a former WWE guy, used to joke when he forgot something that he'd taken too many chair shots to the head.
He was still a smarter and kinder person than any of the McMahons could hope to be.

So you can do research, so long as the government approves of it.
This is such a pile of Orwellian, Ray Bradbury-esque villainy. It's agonizing how little is being done about it.
