"get off my lawn, you goldarn kids!" I am SO gonna borrow that if I remember: an undead grump whose curmudgeonliness overpowered the dark forces.

Augh. This is what happens when you fire old veteran editors. "Over" is a relational/placement adjective. The word here is "more than."

When I was a newspaper editor, I explicitly banned publication of images like this. I remember once when a premier and MLA did that sort of thing at a local oil-tank manufacturer. I asked the plant manager to find me a worker - working. Ran that, without politicians.

I have essentially made it so that the Gods don't allow gunpowder. But I can see some innovative gnomes hooking up a high-pressure boiler through a big valve into a tube with a ball of steel in it.

I don't believe in satan. That's your fiction to deal with.
comment in response to post
Ah, yes. Typical evangelical blaming bullshit. It's not MY fault that your make-believe god can't stop its priest from raping children. It is YOUR fault for wasting time on a belief where you have to accept god's priests raping children in some kind of mental gymnastics.
comment in response to post
My parents were emotionally abusive and generally unfit to procreate. Your faith says that's my fault somehow. (Original sin.) Bullshit. If I see a child being abused, I will do everything in my power to stop it. Which makes me vastly superior to your supposed all-powerful, all-knowing god.
comment in response to post
So, your god is okay with kids being raped. And that's why I am an atheist - because I am NOT ok with kids being raped.
comment in response to post
When "god" loves the children enough to protect them from the priests who rape them, then we might be getting somewhere.

Mostly because of religion.

Canadian economy grew more than 2%. #elbowsup

Even if the nobles are .... noble, their underlings are probably otherwise. People plot to overthrow good rulers. Or engage in graft, corruption, vice .... without the noble noble noticing, perhaps. Or .... ?
comment in response to post
^^^ this. Think in planning terms. How did the town/city grow? What was its history, what is its current economy? How does the infrastructure support that? (Where are the docks, the merchants, the administration, etc.)
comment in response to post
That clickbait title isn't accurate. It's an opinion piece that does not, in fact, make any substantive claim to suggest Canada is expelling the fuckwit. The author gives reasons why we could/should, but that's a different title.

Ok. So I've held a fervent anti-monarchy view for 25 years... yours is the first rational argument to the contrary I have heard.
comment in response to post
... and if we loop back, then, you'd view abolishing the british monarchy - or, more accurately, severing ties with Britain completely - would erode the power of those treaties. Do I have that right?
comment in response to post
Oh! Oh! And the reason the current gods aren't actively doing anything about it is that if they do so, people might start following the new gods, which would give them power and take power away from the current gods... Dang. Dang. Y'all gave my fledgling campaign some serious BBEG plotlines.
comment in response to post
Usually after significant delays. The number of people who don't grasp treaty rights is appalling. (Coff Danielle Smith).
comment in response to post
OK. That's a view I haven't heard articulated before. Now that you explain it, I grasp its validity. I guess my difficulty here is that it clashes with the views of First Nations people I've heard of/been exposed to (mostly Treaty 6 areas, and West Coast BC).
comment in response to post
I've never suggested we don't uphold the treaties. Ever. In a past life, I've actually advocated for us (white folk) to do a better job. OK. So I get the idea of holding Britain to account. But ...isn't the power/responsibility to uphold the treaties now held by Canada? Isn't Britain powerless?

If only they were cute.

I believe I can aptly capture to our response to Mr. Trump thusly: 1) find a mirror. 2) extend your hand out towards the mirror, palm up. 3) make a fist, knuckles up. 4) now extend the middle finger.

See, the last session had the party overcome a split group of smugglers. One was a cleric. I was gonna make the cleric a priest of a known religion but noooooow.... New priests. New gods. Now I know why magic was shut down... to keep the "others" out. <rubbing hands with devilish glee>
comment in response to post
I have in my gameworld lore that a) magic was gone for ~500 years. This is generally known. Why is not known. b) deities are kinda graded in three categories. Greater, lesser, demi. The party will learn that deities can increase/decrease in power. This is grand timing.
comment in response to post
Can I steal this?
comment in response to post
So you're First Nations, and your view is that you want to preserve the colonial monarchy responsible in large part for the genocide of your people because you feel the treaties will lose power if we abolish that monarchy? That ain't scanning with this old white guy. I ain't getting it.

Huh.... I kinda like this. A lot.
