I would argue Calyrex Shadow + Zamazenta is in a similar predicament to where Miraidon was in Regulation G.
The archetype need a mandatory answer to Miraidon, and a mandatory answer to Koraidon, and a mandatory answer to random stuff like Sword Fish / Terapagos.
Miraidon on its own just carries.

Weāre also in a format where there are less Dazzling Gleam / Draco Meteor resists available.
And also, Miraidon functions as both a final boss *and* a final, final boss.
And **also**, the things that counter Miraidon canāt reasonably handle the second Restricted Pokemon.
And also⦠Hadron Engine š

Being forced to run Specs Miraidon + Speed Control x Farigiraf was still viable, but it wasnāt nearly as flexible as Calyrex or Kyogre.
In Regulation i, Miraidon can do a lot more if the support pieces enable both itself and another big Restricted
I predict a Hisuian Arcanine-esque run to Worlds.

Itās important to understand the full breadth / layers of an ongoing Regional.
Something is being said if top players are using something eclectic in the face of a very popular archetype (meta development).
Also who specifically is playing, how many players etc (U.S. Regionals are usually huge).

Iām actually really interested to see what turns up in this latest U.S. Regional. Maybe something I really appreciate will end up being good?
(Or maybe Miraidon will win again).

It would seem that the Raichu + Rayquaza stuff was inspired by Wolfeās Worlds winning team, and the Raichu + Zamazenta stuff was inspired by Wolfeās Regulation G Raichu video.
Nope. It isnāt. Itās just a very good idea on its own, when you think about it.

Also this is definitely not a āhigh level competitiveā team. Itās mostly a for fun / sort of meme team. That said, losing to a #1 archetype (Miraidon) consistently is certainly no fun.

What are some niche team building choices that you really enjoy?

Low key though⦠a nice, bulky Sitrus Berry Rillaboom with Protect, Grassy Glide, Fake Out, and Drum Beatingā¦ šµšš¾

I think Assault Vest Rillaboom is incredibly strong, as it can be trained to live hits that it otherwise shouldnāt be able to.
Iāve used Assault Vest Rillaboom more than any other Rillaboom set, and I genuinely think the bulky, Sitrus Berry, Protect + Drum Beating set is incredibly intriguing.

So itās bulky, Tera Fire, Sitrus Berry Rillaboom with Protect.
In the few battles Iāve tested, Rillaboom has had enough bulk to take one good hit of choice, with Fake Out support.
With Incineroar + Grassy Terrain, it has lived a second hit, ate the Berry, and lasted a good while with Protect.

This team really is all about Rayquaza. And so if every single Miraidon team is 100% free (as it is intended to be) the Rayquaza should shine in matchups that Zamazenta is weak in.
Iām hoping Rayquaza proves strong into Pokemon such as Koraidon, Calyrex Shadow, Kyogre, and opposing Zamazenta.

Whats my answer to Miraidon, you ask?
Oh, itās simple.
In all seriousness, Iām hoping to test out some good rentals teams really soon.
For now, I want to test out how good Rayquaza can be š

This team is so anti-meta that itās not even funny.

Brady Smith actually had a video on this sort of set up.
My set up with this situation was 100% incidental. Yet, it was still just as funny, honestly!

Yeah. So I just locked my opponent into an infinite Fake Out. All thanks to my Pokemon being incorrectly trained.
This was probably more entertaining than watching MoxieBoosted. Though that is a very cool content creator.

Incidentally my Tera types are mostly wrong, and my Urshifuās speed is critically incorrect (and Iām not sure how to fix it).
But fortunately, this mistake allowed for this meme to happen.

All I know is⦠Iāve worked with several āknownā players in the community, and all of them seem to think Iām okay at the game. Confidence and passion can kind of get you anywhere, I guess.
