If Maria von Trapp had been given elastic.

And a stonking triplet trumpet motif

Makes it sound like this year is the end of the Tour! Of course it’s nice to watch on the normal telly but it’ll still be free on France.tv — just sign up for a (free) account and run it through a French VPN. Simples.

Funny how, in fact, the grass is now actually greener.

My hospital discharges all newborns in a weenie t-shirt that has ‘back to sleep’ printed on it, so yeah, not believing this bs

Yes, and frustrating to the point where I have to remind myself that we didn’t even have women commentators until recently. SUCH an entrenched establishment and it evolves at a glacial pace…

Greggs: long overdue!

Ooh yes please! It seems to sit at the uncomfortable intersection between deep-rooted personal identity and nationalism (not sure that’s the right word, but you get my gist…)

Not to mention people who already hold dual citizenship by birth.

I was JUST pondering this yesterday; in many instances elite athletes go somewhere different from their home country to train. Surely if they new place feels like home they should be allowed an additional citizenship when requirements are met. What if they meet a life partner or become a parent?

Might I suggest that the most secretive military operations in history are the ones no-one will ever know about.

Oh good. Maybe it was a temporary thing.

Khan did done splendid things for Tooting, so yes, definitely concur!
comment in response to post
To be fair, he lost a very different kind of nomination twice.

Clarify not simplify; and yet, maybe also.
comment in response to post
To simplify this one simply needs drone footage of potted hostas in CA.

Ha ha I’d forgotten about that culturally pivotal detail
comment in response to post
Yeah that tracks. Also there’s a definite shift if you look at his local work for Tooting before he got into committee jobs.

She’s the one in All About Eve, right?

Harsh but fair

They once asked me what kind of tea I wanted and didn’t like it when I replied ‘normal’.

I thought they closed down years ago

Funnily enough, my fave NYC bagel combo (cream cheese with lox and salad) goes down brill with a cuppa!
comment in response to post
Realised this sounds snarky — didn’t mean to — but honestly getting a decent cuppa in nyc would be smashing
comment in response to post
You forgot ‘better tea and bickies’

He wasn’t always quite so soft — not in the eyes of his colleagues, anyway — I mean, they thought he was enough of a threat to have his conversations bugged. He’s def. softened with age.

True, if you judge current policy versus platform, but that’s true of a lot of people until the job starts. Sadly.

Ha ha ha ha ha thanks for the laff

And Toulouse, France.

YES! and I get the feeling Mamdani already feels the same way about the (lack of) Dem’s support!

Yes, once you’ve been successful as an MP you’ve def. more clout and staying power.

Can you even imagine the most influential city in the UK having a Muslim Labour mayor oh wait
comment in response to post
London’s doing pretty well almost a decade on from electing a Labour Muslim Mayor; I reckon NYC will be just fine!

Let me guess — was it Zemmour ?

Similar thing happened to me last week — was picking an expert scientist’s brain for juicy, arguably plausible sci-fi plot points — she thanked me for ‘finally making her PhD research useful’!

I’m presuming they also mean at service stations because otherwise it’s a recipe for (actual) disaster!
comment in response to post
I think it’s mostly still legal on smaller roads but not motorways (uk and eu, anyway)

Came here to say a similar thing. Citing strict French parents who go to therapy to become ‘less shouty’ is hardly indicative of the norm.

And for the USA, if you’re on a non-resident visa, you must show the return ticket.

Everyone who’s called Norman.
